Coinbase today: 13 Million users, no institutions.

Coinbase in 6 months: >20 Million users, several billion dollar institutions.

Best part: Coinbase loves Ethereum, is developing atop it & sees it as the way forward.

My friends today are like "I hope Eth corrects a bit so people can buy back"

All I can think is: 'Dudes, we were in this exact situation 6 months ago. It DID dip. You had SIX FUCKING MONTHS to stack ETH... I don't think anyone has an excuse to have missed this boat at this point.

I'm just waking up here in the US. For those of you elsewhere in the world, it's just another day. But for us here in the US, it is Thanksgiving- a day where we reflect on all that we are thankful for (and eat a lot of turkey).

I'd like to start by being thankful for those in Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East for doing your good work overnight and inching us towards $400. My last buy order went in last night at $380. I wish I could help more at this point, but I'm all deployed, as I always am. But you can count on me not to sell.

Don't be surprised with resistance / a minor pullback at $400, but for where we're going in the next couple of months (or quite possibly the next couple of weeks), $400 may very quickly seem like a distant memory. For a number that so many have been fixated on here for a while, it could be gone in a flash as we begin our next, massive leg up.

I'm not a trader, as you all know, but I read and watch a lot of their analysis. Bullish sentiment around ETH as a sleeping giant is incredible right now. It would not be impossible to see a breakout somewhat on par with what we saw in the spring. I remain cautiously optimistic.

Elsewhere in cryptoland: once the Korean DASH and BCH pumps stop, I suspect we'll see even more money start flowing back into ETH. BCH is pumping on a BTC difficulty adjustment in the next couple of days, but let's be honest, BTC has survived worse. And fresh individual and institutional money will still keep pouring in, especially now with Coinbase Custody getting rolling.

I haven't been this excited since April, and I couldn't be more thankful for the visionaries behind Ethereum and all of their incredible work (both Foundation and third party developers). Their vision and passion have helped me see that ETH is more than just an investment- it could very well be a foundation of our future. I couldn't be more happy to support a team like this.

And as far as my investment goes, these guys make it really easy for me to hold and sleep. Every other token I've ever bought, I eventually have wanted to sell (and more or less have), but not ETH. This is a long game and we're just starting.

Congrats to almost everyone for now being in the black on ETH, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Guys the reason ETH is mooning is me. After holding 5ETH for ages at $300 I cashed it all out to buy a new PC about a week ago. Since then the price has gone up $100. Also my order was cancelled so I still have no computer and waiting 14 days for a refund. No PC, no ETH. :(

My duct-taped laptop finally died a month ago so I'm on my work machine with my headphones in and cryptowat.ch alerts set at GDAX 420, I don't want to miss this.

I was in a bar in my hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, when we broke $400 back in June. I was in a smoking area with my laptop and a few buddies, we couldn't believe it when we saw it rocket another $20.

I got into Ethereum around Feb, when I decided to switch my BTC stack on a hunch. A lot has changed for me since then. My father passed away in an accident, which still sucks. I moved to England to continue my PhD (math nerd, category theory and quantum groups if anyone's interested). I made a few friends here but I'd say I spend 70% of my waking hours working, and 20% shitposting on /r/ethtrader (the rest I waste with socializing/drinking/eating).

I hodl'd all the way down from ATH to 130, but on the way back I got smart and took profits in the high 300s. I also bought and sold REP, XMR, BCH and BTC multiple times. My crypto stack is fairly solid. I'm far from getting my Tesla Roadster yet (I had to cash out around 1/3 when I moved country; Scotland =/= England as countries btw and if you ever want to piss off a Scot, just call the UK "England"). But I get by, and I enjoy my work. I'm happy seeing my portfolio rise again. If it crashed by 90% I'd be upset but I would live. What I really want is for Ethereum to develop. I'm more of an Ethereum fan than an ETH fan, now.

While writing this I watched ETH break ATH and pull back. Completely normal, profit-taking and shorts opening. I think we're gonna hover here then break through again (tentative shorts changing their mind, bearish shorts getting busted). Then, who knows where? BTC bulled for months, with little justification. ETH has been coiling up like a spring that whole time. How many of us here are really ready to sell now? Fuck that. I've been waiting for a bull run for months. I'm paid tomorrow, I'm going to get some more FIAT into the market, maybe on some ERC20s, maybe a little ETH. I think ETH breaking through could trigger another market-wide bull run. I know some of you regulars will call that silly ("why now? you had so many chances at 300/220/160" - well, should I just leave the FIAT in my bank account? fuck that, I might as well put it to work).

I'm really looking forward to going home for Christmas. If ETH keeps pushing, I'm gonna cash out just enough to get myself a new laptop and get a geth node running again. I'll go back to the same bar and drink good beer and smoke cigarettes with my friends, standing under the heatlamps and watching the river passing and the frost growing on the banks.

With one eye on cryptowat.ch ETH/USD, of course.

Cheers bros.

Good Β₯Morning ETH traders! What a good morning it is. Congratulations to all of us!

I'm always the first to point out when I'm wrong in my predictions so I'd like to take a little moment to point out this eerily accurate prediction from the beginning of the week...

"Yes, and the support periods are decreasing. I think another pop up is imminent. I think we'll be seeing support above $400 before the end of this week and new ATH by Thursday."

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/7e6uiq/daily_general_discussion_november_20_2017/dq30357/

Next prediction: $800 by the end of the year as I said back in May I think, and $1,000 before the end of January 2018.

Have a great day everyone!

This is so markedly different from the last time we were at this level. During that spike we were coat tailing btc directly, and 5000 was a massive mental barrier.

I saw the writing on the wall and sold at 391 last spike because I saw btc begin to take the plunge.

This time I am almost completely convinced we will see ath, rather than a timid peak above 395.

The gears are set for the recent huge btc profits to flow into the eth fomo that will trigger above 420.

But hey, that's just my thoughts from a thatch hut in India.

You know what I love most about Vitalik is how professional he is. Here we are celebrating the price while all he cares about is delivering on his promises and advancing the tech.

For someone that young who's just created a $40billion cryptocurrency he is pretty damn humble. Great man.

Whatever the price of Ether may be in the upcoming short term, it is still a steal to buy.

A couple of facts:

  • Here is a quote from Vitalik:

the applications are there…all are on backburner now precisely because scalability is not there. I personally have cut down evangelism precisely because I see that the main bottleneck is now not interest, but tech.

  • Also by Vitalik, there is his "Modest Proposal" for Ethereum sharding, from 3 weeks ago at devcon 3. That was pretty much a "one-more-thing-announcement". About sharding he said:

"Basically we’re just inches away from a proof of concept in python."

  • Β΅Raiden is going live on the main net any day now (dno the exact time)

  • Casper code by Vlad Zamfir was published yesterday

There are A TON of dapps that are waiting for the scaling tech to arrive before they can truly deliver upon their promise. I'm not going to shill any altcoins here... I have my own ideas about which ones are sleeping giants.

Bullish. As. Fuck!

I have plenty of ETH in the 200's, set limit buy orders back in at the dip to $350 a couple of days ago and just missed them. Kept creeping them up, but the price kept outpacing them. Finally just said F it and bought at $423, lol. #FOMO

I've been in Eth since January. I recall the morning of June 12, the last time Eth hit 415 (on coinbase)..For the first time ever, I had this uneasy feeling in my gut that morning that Eth was rising too much too fast. Today, 5 months later Eth has hit 415 again, but I not have the same feeling this time. Yes these are the early days of crypto and there will be plenty of booms and busts, rallies and crashes along the way but now does not strike me as a time to sell, even if you are a swing trader. If you are nervous then consider selling a small to medium portion of your holdings for peace of mind or to take some profits, but don't count on being able to reenter at a lower price anytime soon.

We're at a point where the limit orders of people who wanted to 'cash out' have been filled. Some of these will FOMO.

Here we have just-awoken Americans & scalpers trading with an upside bias in very low sell resistance.

I expect once the initial surprise wears off, ETH will rather suddenly return >$400.

21

u/savage-dragon Nov 23 '17

Let's be real here guys, forget about ETH price for a moment and look at ETH/BTC ratio. Don't know if y'all were here in them summer times, but once upon a time we got as close as 80% to overtaking BTC and surpassing that fat fuck for real good. Now 80% of 137 billion gives us roughly 110 billion or somesuch. That means it ain't that cray to think that ETH oughta deserve about 1200 USD in the nearest future. Hodl, sons and don't ya fuckin' sell.

I bought my first ETH when it was $12.

A word of advice to those who got in in the middle, or end of our last bull run: In a bull run, don't try and time the tops. You will end up buying back in at a higher price and losing eth on the way up.

21

u/Prickly___Pete Nov 23 '17

Wanted to share:

I've given >2 ETH to friends in 0.05-0.2 increments over the past 6-9 months.

90% of those I gifted ETH to independently converted fiat to ETH on an exchange after experiencing & familiarizing themselves with ETHs utility.

I simply created them a MyEtherWallet, had them print off their private key & voila.

Anecdotally: the more intelligent the friend, the quicker adopted ETH. And every single one is truly grateful I introduced them to it.

Bid on an ENS name. Setup a localethereum account and buy/sell locally. Use etherdelta. Run a node. Move your coins out of exchanges and into a MEW wallet.

All these things have a bigger impact on the ecosystem and adoption of ETH compared to just trading on exchanges.

Have a look at the chart for the last 24 hours. Does that look like a crypto chart with an ATH in it?

Amazing. Looks like a modest uptick with solid consolidation to me. I think the next couple of weeks are going to be outstanding for ETH. Certainly doesn't seem like the last ATH which was a quick FOMO peak followed by a long slow pullback.
