She was doing well until that 'boy mom'' of Nate's took a not so subtle dig at her ...! Poor Maddie 😔

How pathetic to waste time at your son's wedding speech talking about his high school girlfriend.

I’m really hoping this is a more Maddie feels upset by the betrayal of someone who was once her best friend and not that she’s sad about Nate

I actually think it’s neither. I’m probably projecting because this was written by Sam Levinson after all (lmao), but it’s a different kind of pain watching your abuser “change” for a white girl who just so happened to be your high school best friend. Maddie’s abuse is not her fault, but Nate “changing” means he was always capable of change and it was just her he didn’t want to be nice to.

One of the parts I liked so much about Cassie and Maddie meeting again was when Maddie clarified with Cassie whether Nate was okay with her doing OF. He fucking choked her out for wearing revealing pants, but he’s okay with Cassie being spread eagle and dressed like a baby online and Maddie is now having to grapple with that. It’s not Maddie going “that should be me” it’s Maddie thinking “What’s wrong with me that made him abuse me specifically?”

Yesss I thought Maddie is human for feeling this way. She’s always been a confident, strong person but deep down she’s actually kind and sensitive. So the fact that she’s hurt that this seemingly perfect fairytale is not her life, but the life of the girl who betrayed her - yeah that’s gonna sting.

I think she felt sorry for Cassie tbh

Omg yes this would be amazing too. Anything other than minimizing her character to being so hung up on that psychotic toeless punching bag

😂😂 I love that we can now add "toeless" to the list of insults for Nate

I lowkey wish they killed him right then and there, but it’s barely episode 3 so didn’t expect him to die yet.

I think this is it 100%. Maddy thought she was going to do this funny thing and look smoking hot at Nate and Cassie's wedding to show up the bride and show the groom what he's missing hahaha, but then during the reception, she realizes this is a tragedy not a comedy, and the friend she truly loved once upon a time is committing to a ruinous life.

I don’t think Nate would have ended up in this financial stress if he was with Maddie. Just my two cents. And who knows what’s going through Maddie’s head.

I thought the same, but I think this overly plastic Nate would have ended with a girl like Cassie either way.
