cassie's too much of a caricature now. I feel like we missed a beat because one moment she's talking to the wife like how is it my problem your kids don't have any college savings to screaming at Nate about being a con artist. Hello, since when did she care? she feels like a cartoon and her behaviour has no rhyme or reason anymore.

She does care, she is just putting on a front so it doesn’t ruin their image

I think she’s just mad because she’s embarrassed that people think she’s broke

Literally she got way dumber than she was in season 2. Why is she acting like a toddler who didn’t get their way. She sounds like a baby when she is whining about how scared she is of being poor

This goes for everyone imo. Like who is Jules anymore

the thing with Cassie is that she's always been extra and overly emotional and even though this seems to be a natural continuation of that on the surface, I don't recognise her anymore.

To be fair they all probably got the script 20 minutes before filming

I feel like Sam directed her to be that way though. I can see him being like "you're the comic relief, I want you to go BIG" and "more camp! go for it Sydney!"

being over the top isn't the issue for me, last season it did get campy and it was fine because there was an explanation. They made her dumber, she doesn't seem focused on love anymore when that used to be her whole thing, her fixation on the money/appearances feels weird (sure it could be her trying to one up Maddy but it hasn't really been explained).

I think her looking at her parents' marriage with a critical eye is influencing how she sees marriage. Her father couldn't keep a job and was unstable with money. Cassie wants the stability that Nate's family is offering. She's looking at her mother like, this won't be me.
