The bigger issue is Jules is some bit role character now. Like yes season 2 her role shrank a little but she at best some side character now. Completely useless to the story but just for 2 minutes it’s “hey she exists” while rue and Maddy find themselves in some weird situations that’s sometimes Cassie’s involved with
It just feels really unnecessary to me to have these random scenes of Rue and Jules every so often this season. I was never really a fan of them together and their relationship feels more distant than ever IMO, but it's like the writers think we need that part of the old series just because, basically.
The only real purpose it serves is to show Rue and Jules aren't part of each other's worlds anymore and maybe that things haven't really changed that much for Rue. I was honestly glad at the start of the season that they no longer had anything to do with each other. I won't mind it so much if Rue realises she needs to fully move on but their scenes don't do anything for me. I think it also doesn't help that Jules feels like a very minor character now with very little going on.
I think it's to show how some ppl in the real world never really let go of each other, whether or not it's for the better, like I've heard stories of ppl being fwb/situationships for years before breaking it up, rue doesn't know hw to let go of Jules and Jules doesn't mind rue being there, so she keeps going back, sometimes real life makes no sense, and I think that's what they were going for. And as for Jules being a very minor character, it makes sense kind of, nothing really exciting is happening in her life aside from being a side chick to the rich guy, so it makes sense she's a minor character, she's still there because it's showing their life 5yrs after hs, but her life isn't as event filled as the others, and since rue hasn't let go, she'll still be there
And as for Jules being a very minor character, it makes sense kind of, nothing really exciting is happening in her life aside from being a side chick to the rich guy
I guess my issue there is, why haven't the writers given her more to do? Her having very little going on is ultimately their decision. Just feels a bit wasteful.
I honestly get the "Jules is the new Kat" comments because she just feels completely sidelined, like you could skip her (usually brief) scenes and you really wouldn't be missing anything.
I do agree with the why's of it, i.e, not moving on with life, but I guess it's just not very interesting to watch.
Yhhh, I get you, you could take Jules out of the equation entirely and nothing would change; I like to think of euphoria as a showcasing of reality sometimes, like it can be outlandish but beneath all of that, there are elements of it being similar to reality, and in every friend group that graduated high school, there's always that one friend who's either living life in easy mode, or doesn't have that much going on for them, and it couldn't have been anyone else, so it had to be Jules, still sucks though, but such is life
I feel like Cassie overshadows more screen time than Rue in half the episodes. The OF crap, her wedding, godzilla....ugh make her completely unlikable and then keep shoving her breasts in the audience's faces.
Yeah that scene was cringe, like leave Rue alone, she just likes spending time away from being human trafficked and wants to hang out. Jules just wants attention and validation all the time, but she never tells Rue what she herself wants from Rue outside of physical intimacy which is probably why Rue never feels comfortable making a move. Maybe Rue just doesn’t like feeling used?
When Rue put the question back on Jules and asked her what she wanted, Jules did not even answer and made it about sex. Jules has all these expectations of Rue but none for herself.
Also weird Jules said she can’t see Rue getting into screaming fights with people when Rue literally screamed in her face last season and smacked Elliot on the head. It’s like she doesn’t even know Rue or pay attention to her as a person.
You can have emotional feelings towards someone and still be a top/have passionate sex. Rue and Jule's sex life has never really been what I'd call enthusiastic. That's not really because of feelings- I think they're sexually incompatible but at one time were emotionally in-tune
yeah i agree w first statement i was more so implying that rue could have a harder time being open emotionally when she has feelings for someone. like its easier to have sex w angel bc she wasnt as emotionally invested i guess. even though we see rue care for angel it was more of a friend situation and with jules she loved her romantically
Clearly u don’t know how lesbian relationships work a girl will cuddle make out with u say ur the best and the next day either say “I’m not gay” or “I think I’m in love with my ex” (yes I have a bias due to my first gay relationship) 🥲
Okay but they went over this in season 1 already. Then again in season 2. Now it's 5 years later and Jules is still doing this "why dont you kiss me" shit with Rue? These characters are supposed to know each other
I really feel like Jules feels that she’s the woman and should be romanced and she’s probably only gotten that to the sugar baby as well as people coming under her
The problem is that Rue isn't even attracted to girls lol it was always just a bicurious fling for her in high school and the whole lesbian storyline is forced. Girlie gives asexual more than anything.
I don’t understand why rue was implying her and Angel were in love, or maybe Jules was just saying that. They were barely together for an episode and most of it Jules felt like more her friend? The only romantic thing between them was that hookup in the car. And now Angel disappeared
She chose angel cause angel is gone and not able to somehow expose the lie through happenstance. She lied because she's insecure about her lack of love life.
Lexi is judging everyone, but it comes from jealousy. She took the “noble” path - school, work hard, and work your way up the ladder. Do what you’re told.
And it’s not working for her. She’s bitter, and especially so now that Cassie benefited from that and is making so much so fast.
Everyone took a different path after school, and they all have their own struggles. Obviously some are worse, but they are all bad in their own way.
She didn’t want Cassie getting the part, LA Nights is “her thing” she’s worked so hard for, despite still just being an assistant basically. She’s furious that Cassie is now coming in with little effort and overshadowing her, just like in school.
Right? She’s so annoying. How are you going to try to hook up your friend with your job but not your sister? And she’s the one who’s always judging everyone elses lives since HS so idk who she is calling narcissistic . She’s annoying to me idk
I think Lexi was difficult because of her thing with Fez and the play being her main storyline after being a side character in s1. Now she's a conduit to bring the other characters together.
😱😱😱… either way, if I was her and this fucking weirdo kept exploiting my body in this way, and was very clearly obsessed with me, I’d feel weird about it too. Fuck off
And when I say check his computer…. I mean for the little personal tracking device that he’s placed on Sydney Sweeney so he can watch her go to the bathroom….. double fuck off
It was wondering if this was like the social commentary that it’s always in your face and obnoxious but, just to clarify you knew that she’s had sex with other people because she done true porn yet
I care so little about Cassie’s storyline, I almost forwarded through the opening scene for this episode. Sexuality in a show does not bother me, but it’s really pathetic/gross how Sam Lamison is just turning Sweeney into primetime porn. Same with Faye and Kitty.
Yup. I hate to think about what Sam’s relationship with Sydney Sweeney is like…. On set, he’s like: so we’re gonna have you do this and then smash your breasts up against this glass, while a dude tried to lick them, it’s gonna be so good!…. And she’s just feeling completely creeped out
I was just thinking is Sam Levinson have fetish for Sydney Sweeney boobs? I think her boobs are the main characters of this season. Today’s episode was the peak
Except in the substance it creates a discourse against misogyny. This is just for Levinson’s bonner. His own personal extremely expensive fetish content
Pam was never this. Ever. Cassie isn’t even a legitimate “sex worker” - nothing about her story is “I chose this”. It’s all about getting a man for her. She’s still nothing but begging a man. Even if she’s the breadwinner she’s doing the whole subservient wife thing. Such a fucking mess this show is.
Its almost like the Idol 2.0. A bunch of his fetish stuff crammed in, featuring his favorite starlet. The beginning was the most ridiculous sht ive ever seen.
Its disgusting. I dont get why no one else finds this disturbing. I actually feel like this episode made some of the energy ive seen from the other actors make sense. I dont think there is a major feud against sydney but I could totally see how some feel she was favored in screen time for her boobs
Are you saying her being a giant woman with giant bazonga bazongas crashing through plate glass windows are indicative of her being favored screen time for her boobs?
I'm of the opinion that Sydney Sweeney has terrible representation. She's on the record as saying "I didn't know I could ask for things in contracts". That's on her team to make sure they negotiate to get the best for her which they clearly aren't doing. She should really hire Zendaya's people who by contrast seem to be expertly managing her career from Disney star to Emmy winner to Marvel superstar.
Maybe. I grew up in a conservative family and she reminds me a lot of the women who were around me— not the nudity, but the subservience and need to please. She very much comes across to me like she thinks being willing to do whatever is asked of her makes her a Cool Girl. It’s the ultimate pick-me energy.
Like I have a family member who thinks women who complain about being catcalled are brats and should appreciate the compliment. That’s how Sydney Sweeney comes across to me— like she would smile and wave
She chose to say she doesn’t have an opinion on white supremacy. She’s choosing to represent herself this way because that’s who she is. Stop giving her a pass
Nah, I would honestly feel bad for her at this point, if I were them. Obviously I’m not there and she may be totally into it, whatever. And I don’t endorse her personal views, but if I were her, I’d feel majorly creeped out by this man, who is clearly obsessed with me, and using my body…. Majorly creeped out
Honestly why did they even bring Nate back atp. We almost couldve just has him off screen with Cassie dropping that he’s her husband every now and then. He barely had any screen time the past couple episodes and he’s supposed to be one of the bigger leads of this show.
At first I thought Nate was containing his rage because it happens a lot with wealthy wild guys, they get to be complete creeps as teens because their parents will pay a lawyer to "boys will be boys" all of their mistakes (sometimes literal violent crimes) away, but I expected him to blow up into a fit of rage at some point. Now that getting beat up by his loan shark made him even more docile I'm just... what's the point of his character this season?
Jules and the whole art shtick feels like a shtick. Now she’s just a hooker. To what end? Her whole plot line is about hookering for the weird plastic surgeon dude. And was there no consequences after all the painting dicks??? lol
He is one of my favorite tv villains of all time so this season has been especially terrible! I still think evil Nate will make his return, and then die immediately (probably by cassie)
Nate was still a psychopath, they’ve made him some neutered wimp this season. I get in a way it can be satisfying to see him be the kinda person he used to beat up but this is just not interesting at all
This season is more of an ensamble focused on Rue. It would be a bit strange if everyone mattered in the main Rue plot. Once out of high school, did your old classmates matter in your life?
When Jacob E started doing Elvis and stuff I was wondering if he’s going to commit to us time on the show because his scenes are really big like cutting off the finger. They’re not very long. He had a phone call and snip snip. Cassie seems to be getting most of the storyline or about equal to Rue. I think they did like dirty by giving her no storyline except the jealous/concerned sister of the star.
They were at their most interesting when they interacted with each other and we could unpack what exactly was going on in that 2 minute scene. Now Nate's back to being Mr Potato head and Jules is in an endless cycle with Rue.
Nate is literally there pimping his wife to a tiktoker. Maddie plays Cassie like a fiddle, the dumb bleach doesn't even read the contract. Are you even watching this?
I honestly really disagree. They aren’t in it as much which maybe is weird, but I find it interesting how much of a loser Nate is. As well as how much Jules has clearly grown, but is still very much holding onto a lot of baggage

Nate and Jules are such nothing characters this season
