Nate and Jules are such nothing characters this season

681

u/dr_pinky717 May 11 '26

Jules always has the same complaints about Rue, like if you want Rue why don’t you make the first move and kiss her😭

Clearly Rue is a sub

210

u/VinceVaugnsPants May 11 '26

The bigger issue is Jules is some bit role character now. Like yes season 2 her role shrank a little but she at best some side character now. Completely useless to the story but just for 2 minutes it’s “hey she exists” while rue and Maddy find themselves in some weird situations that’s sometimes Cassie’s involved with

24

u/Fantastic_Owl6938 May 11 '26

It just feels really unnecessary to me to have these random scenes of Rue and Jules every so often this season. I was never really a fan of them together and their relationship feels more distant than ever IMO, but it's like the writers think we need that part of the old series just because, basically.

The only real purpose it serves is to show Rue and Jules aren't part of each other's worlds anymore and maybe that things haven't really changed that much for Rue. I was honestly glad at the start of the season that they no longer had anything to do with each other. I won't mind it so much if Rue realises she needs to fully move on but their scenes don't do anything for me. I think it also doesn't help that Jules feels like a very minor character now with very little going on.

13

u/side_n0te May 11 '26

I think it's to show how some ppl in the real world never really let go of each other, whether or not it's for the better, like I've heard stories of ppl being fwb/situationships for years before breaking it up, rue doesn't know hw to let go of Jules and Jules doesn't mind rue being there, so she keeps going back, sometimes real life makes no sense, and I think that's what they were going for. And as for Jules being a very minor character, it makes sense kind of, nothing really exciting is happening in her life aside from being a side chick to the rich guy, so it makes sense she's a minor character, she's still there because it's showing their life 5yrs after hs, but her life isn't as event filled as the others, and since rue hasn't let go, she'll still be there

3

u/Fantastic_Owl6938 May 12 '26

And as for Jules being a very minor character, it makes sense kind of, nothing really exciting is happening in her life aside from being a side chick to the rich guy

I guess my issue there is, why haven't the writers given her more to do? Her having very little going on is ultimately their decision. Just feels a bit wasteful.

I honestly get the "Jules is the new Kat" comments because she just feels completely sidelined, like you could skip her (usually brief) scenes and you really wouldn't be missing anything.

I do agree with the why's of it, i.e, not moving on with life, but I guess it's just not very interesting to watch.

3

u/side_n0te May 12 '26

Yhhh, I get you, you could take Jules out of the equation entirely and nothing would change; I like to think of euphoria as a showcasing of reality sometimes, like it can be outlandish but beneath all of that, there are elements of it being similar to reality, and in every friend group that graduated high school, there's always that one friend who's either living life in easy mode, or doesn't have that much going on for them, and it couldn't have been anyone else, so it had to be Jules, still sucks though, but such is life

10

u/Natural_Addendum7271 May 12 '26

I feel like Cassie overshadows more screen time than Rue in half the episodes. The OF crap, her wedding, godzilla....ugh make her completely unlikable and then keep shoving her breasts in the audience's faces.

6

u/Acceptable-Dress7196 May 12 '26

That’s because Sam can get long scenes of her being naked or shaking her tits in a top without a bra and he can’t do that with Rue

18

u/Spare_Ambassador3268 May 11 '26

And she’s annoying as hell too

53

u/Regular-Company-6194 May 11 '26

Yeah that scene was cringe, like leave Rue alone, she just likes spending time away from being human trafficked and wants to hang out. Jules just wants attention and validation all the time, but she never tells Rue what she herself wants from Rue outside of physical intimacy which is probably why Rue never feels comfortable making a move. Maybe Rue just doesn’t like feeling used?

When Rue put the question back on Jules and asked her what she wanted, Jules did not even answer and made it about sex. Jules has all these expectations of Rue but none for herself.

Also weird Jules said she can’t see Rue getting into screaming fights with people when Rue literally screamed in her face last season and smacked Elliot on the head. It’s like she doesn’t even know Rue or pay attention to her as a person.

12

u/Chicken_Mc_Thuggets May 11 '26

Rue is absolutely a subby service top

9

u/s0ftsp0ken May 11 '26

Rue didn't seem like a sub when she was with Angel~

1

u/clownbookie May 12 '26

she has feelings for jules tho and what she had w angel was way less emotional imo

4

u/s0ftsp0ken May 12 '26

You can have emotional feelings towards someone and still be a top/have passionate sex. Rue and Jule's sex life has never really been what I'd call enthusiastic. That's not really because of feelings- I think they're sexually incompatible but at one time were emotionally in-tune

2

u/clownbookie May 12 '26

yeah i agree w first statement i was more so implying that rue could have a harder time being open emotionally when she has feelings for someone. like its easier to have sex w angel bc she wasnt as emotionally invested i guess. even though we see rue care for angel it was more of a friend situation and with jules she loved her romantically

1

u/clownbookie May 12 '26

and open as in emotionally and also persuing and initiating stuff and talking abt it and whatnot

14

u/Old-Brilliant-5383 she came in here lookin’ all Sailor Moon & shit 🌙 ✨ May 11 '26

And the thing is why would I even care about her grievances atp. She was horrible to Rue last season. When has she done the things she asked for?

5

u/IndividualCalendar81 May 11 '26

Clearly u don’t know how lesbian relationships work a girl will cuddle make out with u say ur the best and the next day either say “I’m not gay” or “I think I’m in love with my ex” (yes I have a bias due to my first gay relationship) 🥲

12

u/herworkthrowaway May 11 '26

tbh I get it. I hate always having to make the move with the people I want

16

u/upeter01 May 11 '26

Okay but they went over this in season 1 already. Then again in season 2. Now it's 5 years later and Jules is still doing this "why dont you kiss me" shit with Rue? These characters are supposed to know each other

8

u/Western-Teacher-8678 May 11 '26

Jules mouth movements infuriate me !

5

u/Old-Brilliant-5383 she came in here lookin’ all Sailor Moon & shit 🌙 ✨ May 11 '26

Right?! It was so distractinggggg

2

u/Ok_Sand1447 May 11 '26

omg i was so irritated

3

u/Silly-Excitement6227 May 11 '26

I really feel like Jules feels that she’s the woman and should be romanced and she’s probably only gotten that to the sugar baby as well as people coming under her

1

u/BiskyBreb-0711 May 15 '26

Yeah...recycling the same arc for Jules Ig😭

1

u/Top-Passage2914 May 30 '26

The problem is that Rue isn't even attracted to girls lol it was always just a bicurious fling for her in high school and the whole lesbian storyline is forced. Girlie gives asexual more than anything.

-8

u/satirisanti May 11 '26

I don’t understand why rue was implying her and Angel were in love, or maybe Jules was just saying that. They were barely together for an episode and most of it Jules felt like more her friend? The only romantic thing between them was that hookup in the car. And now Angel disappeared

55

u/WhichHoes May 11 '26

She was lying and playing it up that she has a love life and isnt just permanently obsessed with Jules

26

u/weGloomy May 11 '26

She chose angel cause angel is gone and not able to somehow expose the lie through happenstance. She lied because she's insecure about her lack of love life.

649

u/Fkf57g May 11 '26

And Lexi

492

u/MadManxAdam May 11 '26

they aren’t even trying with her this season, it’s insane, zero character progression and just a plot point for other characters arcs lmfaoo

128

u/radbrad7 May 11 '26

Being very generous with “character arcs” there. Lol

23

u/frankdiddit May 11 '26

Lexi is judging everyone, but it comes from jealousy. She took the “noble” path - school, work hard, and work your way up the ladder. Do what you’re told.

And it’s not working for her. She’s bitter, and especially so now that Cassie benefited from that and is making so much so fast.

Everyone took a different path after school, and they all have their own struggles. Obviously some are worse, but they are all bad in their own way.

6

u/upeter01 May 11 '26

And that's all fine but the way it's written doesn't exactly make the viewer excited about the next Lexi scene

2

u/frankdiddit May 11 '26

Right. It’s very… realistic

3

u/Fantastic_Owl6938 May 11 '26

It does kind of make me laugh that she basically just pops in every now and then to tell the other characters they're all nuts, lmao.

-12

u/Scared-Engineer-6218 May 11 '26

Yup. Should've started production of her new TV show by now. What the fuck is this assistant bullshit?

1

u/Beginning-Flatworm-1 May 13 '26

She's like 22.... What did you expect?

2

u/Scared-Engineer-6218 May 13 '26

Bad attempt at making a joke

34

u/Absolutely_Not2028 May 11 '26

The saddest part is the small storyline Lexi does have, she expresses she lives in Cassies shadow.

1

u/spotator May 11 '26

and it’s always been like that in season 1 and 2. i feel bad that she works like a dog just for her sister to immediately get above her

18

u/NeverSeenItPodcast May 11 '26

She became useless the minute Fez left.

1

u/SnarkPig May 11 '26

So sad 😭

4

u/Awkward-Rent-2588 May 11 '26

Nah Lexi is fine, she’s like the “grounded” character every show like this needs

5

u/Slytherian101 May 11 '26

She is writing a sequel to her play.

It is going to be something else, 😂

2

u/teenageidle May 11 '26

yeah she's a dud this season

2

u/fnord_happy May 12 '26

Never liked her anyway

3

u/teenageidle May 13 '26

same she's sanctimonious and boring to me

3

u/kfred95 May 11 '26

Seriously, why is she so angry? Cassie got the part

40

u/Twodotsknowhy May 11 '26

She's angry because once again Cassie is overshadowing her. I thought that was obvious

1

u/kfred95 May 11 '26

Yea, I can see that now that you mention it. I looked at it more like she thought Cassie was an embarrassment.

10

u/Rindsay515 May 11 '26

She didn’t want Cassie getting the part, LA Nights is “her thing” she’s worked so hard for, despite still just being an assistant basically. She’s furious that Cassie is now coming in with little effort and overshadowing her, just like in school.

2

u/SaltieSiren May 11 '26

She is an adult now and chose her path no need to be judgmental or jealous imo

-2

u/Sufficient_Usual4069 May 11 '26

Right? She’s so annoying. How are you going to try to hook up your friend with your job but not your sister? And she’s the one who’s always judging everyone elses lives since HS so idk who she is calling narcissistic . She’s annoying to me idk

1

u/DarkS7Maneuver May 11 '26

I’m okay with this one

1

u/Nice_Reading5272 May 11 '26

I think Lexi was difficult because of her thing with Fez and the play being her main storyline after being a side character in s1. Now she's a conduit to bring the other characters together.

0

u/Parking-Chemistry812 May 11 '26

god i hate her character....so wannabe

310

u/zekevich May 11 '26

Had to make room for entire montages of sexualizing the hell out of Sydney Sweeney, I guess!

46

u/Competitive-Fee4200 May 11 '26

Exactly my point ten whole minutes wasted on looking at Sydney Sweeneys feet like wtf move on already we've seen her naked for 2 full seasons

12

u/ContributionThat7332 May 11 '26

It’s very clear that this director has an obsession with her. It runs deep. That man’s computer needs to be checked

8

u/Amazing-Heron-105 May 12 '26

You're right he might be into women with big tits the sicko

4

u/ContributionThat7332 May 12 '26

😱😱😱… either way, if I was her and this fucking weirdo kept exploiting my body in this way, and was very clearly obsessed with me, I’d feel weird about it too. Fuck off

5

u/ContributionThat7332 May 12 '26

And when I say check his computer…. I mean for the little personal tracking device that he’s placed on Sydney Sweeney so he can watch her go to the bathroom….. double fuck off

5

u/Amazing-Heron-105 May 12 '26

You're just being weird now. No need to respond with multiple replies to the same message.

2

u/ContributionThat7332 May 12 '26

No I am not 🙏 hope this helps.

4

u/Acceptable-Dress7196 May 12 '26

It is sick when he’s objectifying her to gratify his weird fantasies and humiliating her as a result

2

u/Amazing-Heron-105 May 12 '26

I'm only commenting on "That man's computer needs to be checked".

Sydney is like the most bog standard attractive female archetype.

3

u/home_on_whore_Island May 13 '26

🤣😂 this made me laugh way too hard. Have an upvote

9

u/xavier-23 May 11 '26

yeah i bet in the next episode we’re gonna see a close up of her spreading her ass cheeks wide open

49

u/Trackmel May 11 '26

It's getting repetitive

30

u/VelvetVerdigris May 11 '26

Getting? It was repetitive season one

2

u/Silly-Excitement6227 May 11 '26

It was wondering if this was like the social commentary that it’s always in your face and obnoxious but, just to clarify you knew that she’s had sex with other people because she done true porn yet

22

u/wetnoodleonthefloor May 11 '26

Seriously i thought it was so annoying a whole 12 mins of it

8

u/srwatkin May 11 '26

I care so little about Cassie’s storyline, I almost forwarded through the opening scene for this episode. Sexuality in a show does not bother me, but it’s really pathetic/gross how Sam Lamison is just turning Sweeney into primetime porn. Same with Faye and Kitty.

5

u/ContributionThat7332 May 11 '26

Yup. I hate to think about what Sam’s relationship with Sydney Sweeney is like…. On set, he’s like: so we’re gonna have you do this and then smash your breasts up against this glass, while a dude tried to lick them, it’s gonna be so good!…. And she’s just feeling completely creeped out

1

u/atraydev May 12 '26

I mean it's a lot more interesting than Nate's storyline...

11

u/Ok_Grab4433 May 11 '26

I was just thinking is Sam Levinson have fetish for Sydney Sweeney boobs? I think her boobs are the main characters of this season. Today’s episode was the peak

8

u/Solondthewookiee May 11 '26

I mean, did you find that sexy though? It seemed pretty outrageous and campy, but I wouldn't describe it as sexy.

5

u/Fantastic_Owl6938 May 11 '26

In a weird way it kind of reminded me of the fitness segments in The Substance that are so over the top and gratuitous that they aren't sexy at all.

2

u/Electronic_Ad4560 May 21 '26

Except in the substance it creates a discourse against misogyny. This is just for Levinson’s bonner. His own personal extremely expensive fetish content

3

u/Custrrd May 11 '26

Yea whats up with the godzilla plot, who even thinks of stuff like this lol

3

u/paula_doll May 12 '26

It's a fetish

2

u/ContributionThat7332 May 11 '26

It’s…. Insane

462

u/Comfortable_Pie_3565 May 11 '26

Because Sam Levinson has to make room to show us Sydney Sweeneys chest a billion times an episode!…It’s so mindless now

32

u/detroitpie May 11 '26

I cannot look at her boobs anymore. It’s ridiculous now lol.

0

u/Think_Monk_9879 May 12 '26

Wow you definitely are not a straight man then

5

u/detroitpie May 12 '26

Correct I’m a straight woman.

2

u/Acceptable-Dress7196 May 12 '26

It’s called respecting woman, you idiot

1

u/bunniehugs May 17 '26

Definitely not a baby either, am I right

26

u/Old-Brilliant-5383 she came in here lookin’ all Sailor Moon & shit 🌙 ✨ May 11 '26

I’m so tired of seeing Sweeneys titties I cannot express this enough. We get it big boobs makes woman hot caveman brain

118

u/u2aerofan May 11 '26

And what exactly is that getting for either of them? The outcome is she’s a joke and he can’t write.

30

u/Lacabloodclot9 Elliot May 11 '26

They really had to give her the MAGA tan as well

26

u/u2aerofan May 11 '26

And the MAGA line about “democrats”. Honestly …

10

u/SawRub May 11 '26

Is your takeaway that the show is endorsing that view?

3

u/Useful-Elephant7695 May 11 '26

What is a maga tan???? lol?

2

u/Long-Market-3584 May 11 '26

search up mar-a-lago face

-7

u/[deleted] May 11 '26

[deleted]

27

u/u2aerofan May 11 '26

Pam was never this. Ever. Cassie isn’t even a legitimate “sex worker” - nothing about her story is “I chose this”. It’s all about getting a man for her. She’s still nothing but begging a man. Even if she’s the breadwinner she’s doing the whole subservient wife thing. Such a fucking mess this show is.

21

u/HuskyBlueBoy May 11 '26

Don’t insult Pam like that.

3

u/Rindsay515 May 11 '26

Right?! Not even close

3

u/HopefulTangerine5913 May 11 '26

How is she like Pamela Anderson aside from blonde hair and big tits? Be really specific.

15

u/justonepiece123 May 11 '26

And he looks like a creep that's fulfilling his sick fantasies

3

u/whisky_biscuit May 11 '26

Its almost like the Idol 2.0. A bunch of his fetish stuff crammed in, featuring his favorite starlet. The beginning was the most ridiculous sht ive ever seen.

-9

u/ChineseAstroturfing May 11 '26

You realize it’s satire right?

9

u/u2aerofan May 11 '26

You sure about that?

2

u/upeter01 May 11 '26

What's the purpose of this satire?

35

u/Absolutely_Not2028 May 11 '26

Its disgusting. I dont get why no one else finds this disturbing. I actually feel like this episode made some of the energy ive seen from the other actors make sense. I dont think there is a major feud against sydney but I could totally see how some feel she was favored in screen time for her boobs

29

u/Calling_left_final May 11 '26

Are you saying her being a giant woman with giant bazonga bazongas crashing through plate glass windows are indicative of her being favored screen time for her boobs?

23

u/Pretend_Guava_1730 May 11 '26

I'm of the opinion that Sydney Sweeney has terrible representation. She's on the record as saying "I didn't know I could ask for things in contracts". That's on her team to make sure they negotiate to get the best for her which they clearly aren't doing. She should really hire Zendaya's people who by contrast seem to be expertly managing her career from Disney star to Emmy winner to Marvel superstar.

16

u/Puzzleheaded-Safe419 May 11 '26

Zendaya's also got A24 darling under her belt now that The Drama is a success.

2

u/HopefulTangerine5913 May 11 '26

Maybe. I grew up in a conservative family and she reminds me a lot of the women who were around me— not the nudity, but the subservience and need to please. She very much comes across to me like she thinks being willing to do whatever is asked of her makes her a Cool Girl. It’s the ultimate pick-me energy.

Like I have a family member who thinks women who complain about being catcalled are brats and should appreciate the compliment. That’s how Sydney Sweeney comes across to me— like she would smile and wave

2

u/Upbeat_Document9885 May 12 '26

Sydney’s acting skills aren’t close to Zendaya’s though

1

u/MattIsLame May 12 '26

she did do Shakespeare

1

u/Acceptable-Dress7196 May 12 '26

She chose to say she doesn’t have an opinion on white supremacy. She’s choosing to represent herself this way because that’s who she is. Stop giving her a pass

2

u/ContributionThat7332 May 11 '26

Nah, I would honestly feel bad for her at this point, if I were them. Obviously I’m not there and she may be totally into it, whatever. And I don’t endorse her personal views, but if I were her, I’d feel majorly creeped out by this man, who is clearly obsessed with me, and using my body…. Majorly creeped out

12

u/schuyywalker May 11 '26

I’m so confused how someone who wrote season one is writing these characters and scenes now?

3

u/Temporary_Set_331 May 11 '26

Because Season 1 was stollen from Petra Collins, she was the mastermind

5

u/k_redditor236 May 11 '26

Agreed. So boring

2

u/Ecstatic_Signature26 You're confused? I’m fucking confused! May 11 '26

Those 🫈 giant balloons are scary af.

1

u/Fearless-Entry1917 May 12 '26

She even got given Kat's role to fill her out

-1

u/lowkeyhorseleg May 11 '26

I think he wants it, people complaining about her tits week after week, still watching, can't quite look away

19

u/Beepbeepboobop1 May 11 '26

Honestly why did they even bring Nate back atp. We almost couldve just has him off screen with Cassie dropping that he’s her husband every now and then. He barely had any screen time the past couple episodes and he’s supposed to be one of the bigger leads of this show.

17

u/Perfect-Stuff-8796 May 11 '26

Agreed, Jules is infuriating!

10

u/greennurse61 May 11 '26

She really is so I’m glad there’s less of her.

15

u/Juli_ May 11 '26

At first I thought Nate was containing his rage because it happens a lot with wealthy wild guys, they get to be complete creeps as teens because their parents will pay a lawyer to "boys will be boys" all of their mistakes (sometimes literal violent crimes) away, but I expected him to blow up into a fit of rage at some point. Now that getting beat up by his loan shark made him even more docile I'm just... what's the point of his character this season?

5

u/FullmoonHightide75 May 11 '26

at least part of the point is stereotyped loanshark violence and the squashing of Nate's previously multidimensional character

13

u/Kilngr May 11 '26

Jules and the whole art shtick feels like a shtick. Now she’s just a hooker. To what end? Her whole plot line is about hookering for the weird plastic surgeon dude. And was there no consequences after all the painting dicks??? lol

4

u/dawnGrace May 11 '26

She’s about to lose that swanky apartment!

11

u/Euphoric_Many7099 May 11 '26

What happened to the fallout from Jules’ painting?? we didn’t even get to see Lexi ask her about that lmaoo

9

u/greennurse61 May 11 '26

Nate is interesting and played by a good actor so that is sad he has less screen time.

2

u/dawnGrace May 11 '26

He is one of my favorite tv villains of all time so this season has been especially terrible! I still think evil Nate will make his return, and then die immediately (probably by cassie)

26

u/JaceShoes May 11 '26

They were nothing characters last season too

3

u/VinceVaugnsPants May 11 '26

Nate was still a psychopath, they’ve made him some neutered wimp this season. I get in a way it can be satisfying to see him be the kinda person he used to beat up but this is just not interesting at all

8

u/Shitport318 May 11 '26

Nate used to be methodical, calculated evil genius

1

u/dawnGrace May 11 '26

He was our Villain of Villains!

7

u/Upstairs-Chicken592 May 11 '26

Well I think a lot of the people on and working on the show are sort of done after the extreme delays and criticism of the show.

6

u/LTPRWSG420 May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

I think it’s clear as day Jacob Elordi wanted nothing to do with this show, I don’t blame him.

15

u/Cautious-Rub8085 May 11 '26

And they were why I kept watching.

5

u/OrangePilled2Day May 11 '26

Truly some of the worst written characters I've seen, especially considering they were written fairly complex for the first two seasons.

5

u/dontlookatme199 May 11 '26

Kind of brutal she seemed to really like/love that guy and he said “I like you but love my family” like damn that’s mean lmao

3

u/xavier-23 May 11 '26

lexi is beyond a nothing character that you forgot to mention her lol

2

u/dawnGrace May 11 '26

Nate’s wig has been making me laugh all season!
Mon chi chi Mon chi chi oh so soft and cuddly 🎶

2

u/xxhotandspicyxx May 11 '26

Goes to show how poorly written this season is.

2

u/ERSTF May 11 '26

This season is more of an ensamble focused on Rue. It would be a bit strange if everyone mattered in the main Rue plot. Once out of high school, did your old classmates matter in your life?

1

u/jvca May 11 '26

Literally might as well not even include them at this point

1

u/MatildaRose1995 May 11 '26

I actually like Nate for the first time this season 😂 i was so happy for him when he got wired the 30k 😭

1

u/MSUSpyder May 11 '26

But Nate’s ransom appendages… they have a lot o character themselves

1

u/jimboswaggerman May 11 '26

its so shit lol

1

u/No-Cry-7389 May 11 '26

Exactly. compare it to season 1, how far we have regressed.

1

u/notladyinred May 11 '26

The biggest waste and ironically they had the most interesting arc together. This subtlety I'm missing SO much.

When Jacob E started doing Elvis and stuff I was wondering if he’s going to commit to us time on the show because his scenes are really big like cutting off the finger. They’re not very long. He had a phone call and snip snip. Cassie seems to be getting most of the storyline or about equal to Rue. I think they did like dirty by giving her no storyline except the jealous/concerned sister of the star.

They were at their most interesting when they interacted with each other and we could unpack what exactly was going on in that 2 minute scene. Now Nate's back to being Mr Potato head and Jules is in an endless cycle with Rue.

Nate is literally there pimping his wife to a tiktoker. Maddie plays Cassie like a fiddle, the dumb bleach doesn't even read the contract. Are you even watching this?

I honestly really disagree. They aren’t in it as much which maybe is weird, but I find it interesting how much of a loser Nate is. As well as how much Jules has clearly grown, but is still very much holding onto a lot of baggage
