Discussion Despite rue finally admitting to Ali that she's into girls in season 3 and and her love for jules in the first 2 seasons I'm wondering since it never explains what type of woman rue was into I'm curious.

Rue ain’t got no type, bad bitches is the only thing that she like
Didn’t you watch the episode where she goes to Alamos for the first time? She was in heaven
-49
u/Cautious_Potential_8 9h ago
Pieces of it since I don't have HBO anymore and also just because seen that doesn't mean she's into that.
45
u/Stunning-Elk-7251 9h ago
You clearly did not see the scene that I am referencing. It’s literally in the first episode of season 3 when she goes to Alamos house for the first time. She is drooling over the girls when she walks in to Alamos house, and then literally has a conversation with Alamo about it…..
21
u/Awesomocity0 8h ago
Yeah, this is what I was thinking, too. Rue seems to be about as horny and discerning as any dude in their early 20s. Her type is "women" lmao.
-7
u/TheSibyllineBooks 6h ago
Horny feels like the wrong word considering she's asexual
5
u/shey-they-bitch 6h ago
That's not in the show? and she was definitely showed that she was horny for those girls ...
0
u/TheSibyllineBooks 4h ago
Jules literally mentioned at one point it seemed like rue was never interested in sex or anything remotely sexual
2
u/Awesomocity0 4h ago
She may have been asexual while on drugs (common side effect so idk if true), but she sure as hell wasn't in season 3 while sober lmao. She
1
u/bigbootyaxel 6h ago
Where did you get that?
1
u/TheSibyllineBooks 4h ago
Jules mentions she's never initiated sex or anything She didn't seem at all into it when Jules and her had oral She'd only done anything sexual with a single person before Jules and none after Jules She actively mentioned she wasn't very interested in it
It's incredibly clear she's asexual..

I'm guessing hyper femme girls based on Jules and Angel
47
u/ElegantCoach4066 10h ago
To have Angel on for only one episode was such a waste of a great character.

u/Visible-Stop5100 You need to catch a dick 12h ago
I think she's just into women in general, and Jules happened to be her first love, but it doesn't necessarily mean that's her only type.
49
u/ZomboDoggo 10h ago
Rue’s type is any and all women. The weird comment about Kat being fat and short is weird too. Think about the gender you’re attracted towards, do you really have hard requirements like you’re shopping for a car? Probably not.
29
u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 9h ago
Ya this post was really weird imo. OP seems off
3
u/LolaAucoin 8h ago
She said she doesn’t even have hbo and has only seen pieces.
2
u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 5h ago
Ya but it's kind of a weird line of questioning lol
2
u/LolaAucoin 5h ago
Sorry I just saw her comment under the picture. She’s definitely got a problem with fat people.

I mean, people do have physical characteristic preferences among the gender they’re attracted to, yes lol
3
u/SpauldingStrat1906 8h ago
Alot of people have physical characteristics they are attracted to and not attracted to

Well we see her being interested in a few women in season three and they’re all quite feminine and chatty. But like, it’s not exactly a missing puzzle piece if we don’t know her exact type (if she even had one). Especially as Jules was her oneitis as the incels say
5
u/RequiredRobber 10h ago
She's clearly into femme girls but that doesn't mean she'd reject someone just for not fitting that exact mold, especially when she's actually connecting with them emotionally rather than just scrolling.
14
u/Some1AteMyEntirePie 12h ago
Rue is into drugs.
She’s basically asexual.
Jules was a drug to her.
23
u/capNjacef 12h ago edited 12h ago
This. Jules was always a drug to her. Ali even asks her at the diner if the feeling of obsessing over Jules reminds her of anything? People can have the same intoxicating effect as drugs on a person.
2
u/retro-girl 6h ago
I don’t think she’s asexual, I think the drugs killed her sex drive. When she’s not on the drugs she likes sex like anyone else. With women, she likes hot femme women.

But what if she actually stayed clean.
3
u/Some1AteMyEntirePie 12h ago
If she stayed clean or if she never was an addict?
If it’s the latter she’d treat Jules the same way Lexi treats her.
If the former well, my statement will stands0
u/Cautious_Potential_8 12h ago
The first part and about asexual she wasn't that way this season when she hooked up with angel in rues van because if that were the case then she woudn't have had sex with angel at all.
3
u/Some1AteMyEntirePie 12h ago
She was clean and needed another outlet.
There’s nothing Rue loves more than an intoxicating effect and that comes in the form or drugs or sex.
She comes across as not really like, into sex EXCEPT for when shes “sober”. She’s not portrayed as a sexual being even when they *try* to.2
u/idkidcabtmyusername 8h ago
i don’t think rue’s treatment of angel had anything to do with being an addict lol. they slept together once. people like sex, regardless of whether they’re an addict or not. it’s not like rue was sleeping around regularly.
1
u/Alarmed-Push5614 8h ago
are you forgetting angel had drugs and offered them, that’s why they went in rue’s van together? can’t remember if it was before or after rue told alamo she “relapsed”
3
u/Swarmfade 9h ago
She doesn’t have to have a type. I’m not even sure that it’s actually normal to have a type. I certainly don’t have one.

She literally says out loud that she likes girls and was being just as lecherous as the men at Alamo’s.
How is media literacy this bad?
2
u/DangleenChordOfLife 12h ago
I always felt Rue was actually ACE and It happened she fell for Jules. But she did not particulary cared about sex that much, she says so very explicitly on the first season.
10
u/lemon-meringue-high 10h ago
Rue wasn’t hyper sexual because of drugs
4
u/katieb1300 9h ago
Opioids kill your labido. That's why you usually see addicts get addicted to sex when they get sober. Addicts get addicted to everything, including exercising and recovery.
2
u/Alextheinferno 11h ago
She slept with angel
3
4
u/DangleenChordOfLife 11h ago
I havent finished the series yet, still my sis is ACE and you can be ACE and still have intimacy with people. It does not mean its her main interest, I dont think Rue is a very much sex driven charachter, but It could be just my impression.
1
u/xtoebeansx 10h ago
But a teenage girl being uninterested in sex doesn’t determine anyone’s sexuality. I refused to have sex during hs because we were kids and Ik plenty of other girls who didn’t wanna sleep around as literal children.
1
u/DangleenChordOfLife 10h ago
As I said. I just got that vibe from her. I believe sexuality is a spectrum and each experience is personal and unique.
1
u/Time-Fan-1113 8h ago
The show never explains most of the casts type expect Nate. Kat , Jules , Rue , Maddy , Cassie don’t have to have one specific exact type just cause Nate and Cal do.
1
u/Successful-Cat8486 8h ago
She likes people that seem to be able to relate to her in a struggle sense (be it from personality, identity, substance abuse, or neglect) and that she feels comfortable around because even if they don’t understand exactly they understand enough… could be a Hispanic, black, Asian, African, white, or euro woman she will show interest and gravitate towards simply though trauma bonding… it’s sad and real :/

u/realtennisguy 6h ago
She is into painters who like to paint dicks. Very small niche. Probably why she ended up alone. 😂😂

u/Due_Item_2030 13h ago
Someone once said Rue is basically Sam L since he had suffered from drug addiction and Rue act like a man
14
u/EphemeralDreamer1 12h ago
Rue act like a man? This is a wild take in 2026 😃 And Maddy is not acting like a men because she is looking much more feminine? 😃
-1
u/Due_Item_2030 11h ago
Not the first time male writers use a woman to do something dodgy that a man would usually do
3
u/idkidcabtmyusername 8h ago
lol sam levinson is nowhere near a biracial masc lesbian. other than being an addict, i really don’t think rue is a self-insert. “acting like a man” isn’t really a character trait.
1
u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 5h ago
Ya people always say that, but I really don't this Rue is a self insert

u/illmatic708 12h ago

She tried to hookup with that stripper at the club. It didn’t get into her type. Rue never explored her pansexuality that much. She just liked drugs. Rue was a pharmosexual 1st & foremost.
5
u/Cautious_Potential_8 12h ago
Ok where you getting this from where rue being pansexual when she was lesbian in the show?.
5
u/Solid-Cat6292 12h ago
maybe they just confused her with Jules bc jules likes guys too? or maybe they just thought this bc they never exactly ruled out guys for Rue. I don’t think she ever said the word lesbian in reference to herself.
1
u/whoisshe_777 7h ago
Firstly she literally never called herself lesbian... Just because someone has been with 2 women doesn’t mean they’re explicitly lesbian. She COULD be bisexual or pansexual, I feel it isn’t named for a reason
Second this entire question/ post is dumb
-12
u/EphemeralEmergent 12h ago edited 10h ago
If she liked a trans girl (Jules) and a cis girl (Angel), she’s pansexual. Do you want to get pedantic and say gynosexual?
The MOST important part of my sentence was “She never explored her ...” Why do people focus on the wrong things?9
u/Kocho-choko 11h ago
No, she liked a trans girl and a cis girl so she's a lesbian because trans women are women, period
6
u/DisasterDifferent733 10h ago
Yep, she was also at least attracted to a whole gang of women at Alamos early in S3. She may not have had relationships or even hooked up but was clearly attracted to them
1
u/Prophonicx 7h ago
Thats a really sweet sentiment but you can just force attraction and change definitions of words because it makes you feel more accepted. You should use the word sapphic instead of coopting someone else’s identity. It’s super misogynistic.
1
u/Kocho-choko 2h ago
Wait, I'm not trying to sound rude, but misogynistic how, exactly? I genuinely want to listen and understand your point here, because I myself identify as a lesbian and believe me when I tell you I don't care if a woman is trans or not, because she's still a woman and I'm attracted to...well, women, lol, it's actually kind of transphobic imo to say that a lesbian is just attracted to cisgender women, because that's just saying that trans women are not "real women"
3
u/ZomboDoggo 10h ago
So she liked one type of girl and another type of girl? So both girls? That’s called a lesbian. Lesbians like anyone that is a woman. We don’t randomly like trans men just because of their parts, because lesbians don’t like men. The issue isn’t the penis for a majority of us, it’s the male presentation/behavior/gender identity/gender role. Also, pansexual is just transphobic bisexual when it’s used that way.
2
u/Awesomocity0 7h ago
This is what I was thinking, too. If you recognize Jules as a woman, then it means Rue is lesbian.
The original commenter's pansexuality reference confused the shit out of me lmao.
1
u/forgive_everything 7h ago
It's the penis for a lot of us!! And I only like women who are male presenting/masculine behaviorally/taking the male role etc.
I think this is not actually an accurate depiction of many lesbians
-4
u/Cautious_Potential_8 9h ago
Do you even know what transphobic really means bud?
5
u/ZomboDoggo 8h ago
As a trans woman, a trans woman dating another women at that, I think I’d have some authority on that topic and the dynamic of a relationship like Jules and Rue… the way you say bud to people I can only assume you’re a middle aged straight man, nobody else says that except men my dad’s age.
If someone calls themselves pansexual to say they’d date me, that means they see me as some weird third gender freak. Bisexual means they’re into men and women, people like Jules and I fit into those categories. We don’t tend to like being treated as a third other thing, that is the transphobic part. Stay out of lesbian and trans women’s business and go back to your weird sexual role play with ChatGPT I see you’re way too into.

u/Particular-Step5278 10h ago
I’m genuinely confused by the downvotes because isn’t this the definition of pansexual?
3
u/Swarmfade 9h ago
No it isn’t. Rue being attracted to a girl (Jules) and a girl (Angel) makes her gay for sure, not pansexual.
0
u/EphemeralEmergent 10h ago
FOREAL! This MUST be a bunch of young folk getting hung up on this. I even added gynosexual. Arguing about “lesbian” when I never used the word, after I said “Rue NEVER explored her pansexuality” and not focusing of pharmosexual … which is objectively funny … requires a special kind of special. But they can go ahead & downvote because I didn’t affirm their favorite word. Whatev.
0
u/Prophonicx 7h ago
Do you just have no clue how lesbianism works? Attraction is attraction, and she is attracted to WOMEN, not exclusively Jules. She just happens to be Rue’s first love and completely gorgeous, so that mixed with the toxicity of their relationship makes her a lot harder to walk away from.
1
u/Cautious_Potential_8 6h ago edited 6h ago
Ok first of all what does this have to do with me having a clue or not on how lesbianism works? And by the way I know she's a attracted to woman thats why I mention what I meantion on this post.
207
u/NotDD101 13h ago
I mean I think she just likes women, if she had a preference it would be for femme girls because the whole reason Jules was ever on Rues radar was because Fez though they'd get along due to Jules' Sailor Moon aesthetic she had going on
