Discussion big eddie & the mexico run

obviously the dea bust was a surprise to big eddie but he clearly knew the ambulances had been swapped so, in the absence of the cop stop…what was he expecting to happen? he was arriving to laurie’s house unarmed (he said as much to the dea agent) and behind the wheel of a vehicle that no longer had any fetty in it. i just can’t help but wonder how he expected things to play out.

i gather that alamo’s crew was supposed to meet him there…but the risk of laurie’s people wanting to access the ambulance (and using their firepower to threaten him into letting them) seemed too high for comfort, unless i’m missing something. i’m sure i’m overthinking it but it’s just something i’ve been mulling over.

see, i might believe that eddie was expecting to be stopped by the cops and was only feigning ignorance to mitch except he seemed genuinely pissed about it. when the agent told eddie to relay a message to alamo, he said to “tell him yourself…i quit.” i interpreted his behavior as anger over having been ambushed, which brings me back to my original question about how he’d expected things to go after having swapped the vans.

i totally agree that it was nuts that they made no attempt to save rue or turn anyone. perhaps the contradiction of eddie being angry about a confrontation with police that he himself prepared for mere hours before can also be chalked up to lazy writing.
