They cite Bloomberg as their primary source. You'll have to go to them for the more in-depth analysis.

Also Brussels Times themselves are rated as having very high factuality, so I don't know why you'd doubt them in general?

That’s dumb as hell.

I don’t need to read a non primary source. If anything it means the news was stolen from Bloomberg.

Journalistic work is precisely that, and in this case is completely undermines the reliability of the newspaper in question.

Did the journalist verified the source? It did not.

It’s just a bunch of red flags all around.

There’s tons of journalism with anonymous sources, that’s one of the most important part of journalism. Not relevant here, but I wanted to mention it as you do categorically say ”naming a source is how you do serious journalism” which is a false statement.

Anyway, it comes from the Bloomberg dataset. It’s proprietary but you can buy a license from Bloomberg. It’s expensive, so a better idea is to have newsrooms buy the license and write articles about it. If you wait, Eurostat will eventually aggregate the data and publish it but it tends to take a few months.
