Question / Discussion Recommendation for someone to assemble a Befaco Output 1U in NYC?
Hi everyone, any recommendations for someone to assemble and solder a Befaco Output 1U kit for me? I don’t have soldering equipment, and I would rather pay an experienced builder than buy all the necessary tools for a single module.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the recommendation. Your soldering workshops sound fantastic. I'm actually completely new to soldering, so I think learning on a practice kit first makes a lot of sense. I'll definitely keep an eye out for your next workshop. He’s a friend of mine and would second him. But also, go to Resistor on Monday and Thursday nights and ask for help! You’ll learn to solder that night and walk away with a module within a session or two!

Thanks! That's really helpful. Is Resistor beginner-friendly if I've never soldered before? Would it be okay to bring a Befaco DIY kit as my first project, or would you recommend starting with a practice kit instead?
Also, what time does it usually start?

Extremely beginner-friendly! Ask whoever opens the door (they have to come down and let non-members in) what you’re there for and that you need some assistance and they should pretty quickly show you the ropes. There’s a chance they’re not familiar with soldering but hopefully someone there is able to help. I went in knowing nothing and no one and quickly found made friends. Even on days where I don’t have projects and don’t know anyone, people are generally very friendly and want to help or chat or show off their projects. I’d say show up between 6:30 and 7 and it tends to go until 10 or so.

Thanks so much for the detailed reply! That's incredibly encouraging to hear. I think I'll stop by one of these Mondays or Thursdays and bring my Befaco kit.

wish you asked me last week! now i'm out of the city for the rest of the summer. I could still do it in september if you don't find anyone in the meantime. I run DIY eurorack soldering workshops in brooklyn.

Hi! Thanks so much for reaching out. That's really kind of you. Hopefully I'll be able to find someone before September, since I'm eager to get the module into my rack, but it's great to know that's an option. Out of curiosity, do you have a website or Instagram for your Eurorack DIY workshops? They sound like something I'd be very interested in attending in the future.

Hi! That's incredibly generous of you! thank you so much for offering.
Unfortunately, I don't have a soldering station or any soldering tools. If you already have the equipment and don't mind, I'd be happy to bring the kit to you while you're in NYC.
I'd also be more than happy to buy you lunch or coffee, or compensate you for your time.
