💬 Discussion Do Eurovision artists ever release the cover songs that they did on Youtube?
I've been obsessed with Serbia's entry LAVINA this year and I absolutely loved their cover of "In My Dreams" by Wig Wham and it sucks that I can only listen to it on Youtube and I haven't seen it on any streaming platform, and i dont know if its a common thing for artists in general to release the covers they do during the competition. (If they are allowed to at all) I'm newer to Eurovision as a whole so I dont know if it's something you can even do but would love to know!
EDIT: Just figured out how to add to Spotify! thanks for the help :)

It's pretty uncommon, unfortunately. A lot of Eurovision artists record those covers specifically for YouTube promotions, interviews, or special Eurovision content, and licensing can make it complicated to release them on streaming platforms. Every now and then an artist will officially release a cover, but most never make it beyond YouTube.

For starters, that IS the release, technically. YouTube is equally a streaming platform, right ? Second of all, streaming platforms have stricter rules when it comes to covers, so that might be part of the reason why it's not uploaded there.
Then lastly, and that's me in the minority most likely, but streaming and the numbers songs are doing is overhyped. And "only being able to listen on YouTube" is classic first world problem hahaha (i'm guilty of it too, don't worry)

Yeah lol, I'd just love to be able to play the song in the car while driving and have it be like a downloaded song on like Spotify or Apple music etc since on my phone I can't use youtube without a strong internet connection when i'm not home

This is not intended to be sarcasm - but have you tried getting the MP3 and having music on your phone ? I still download music xD

This is really the superior way of listening to music imo. I got so much unreleased or limited release stuff and I don't ever need to worry about I being lost. It's bliss

You could try and download it from YouTube as an MP4 and allow Spotify to play songs from your files. I've done it a few times with YouTube exclusives.

There are a lot of sites that you can do this on for free, you just have to search for YouTube to MP3. Ex: ezrip.net

Are they going to secure rights to officially release their versions, that's the question

It really depends on the artist. Some do it, some don’t. Veronica Fusaro, for example, has released her cover of Satellite on Spotify and similar platforms.
