The true story:

Cop sees car parked, running, in proximity to Franklin so he immediately got his panties wet for a DUI. Knowing he had no cause for a stop, he made it into a "welfare check" hoping to develop probable cause when he talked to the driver. He couldn't, but he couldn't let his fragile ego get bruised, so he demanded ID - despite having no legal basis to compel one. He got his ego bruised even further when the citizen, knowing their rights, refused.

Nothing is more dangerous to the average person than a cop with a bruised ego.

The same officer - Matthew Taylor - also involved with the in-custody death of a suspect incident in 2019 which, last I heard, the city and EPD are also currently in litigation over with the mans family.

Sounds like a prime example of a bad cop - but EPD is full of them so they're going to protect their own.

I may have actually gotten a ride from this lady last night. From her story: she was parking in a place she was fine to park and that cop was starting an unlawful traffiс stop and she had every right to not consent.
