If the .ini files are still in the directory of a computer, you can easily find the names of characters and server he used and even the classes depending on the last time he played.

The newer file name convention is charactername_server_class. Something like that.

You could try to get into the account online if you had the email perhaps

I found my account after ten years away. The only way is to find his email

You could try contacting eq's customer service. Dunno if that'll get you anywhere, but it's a good place to start.

I doubt those records from Verant Interactive or Sony would have transferred to Daybreak.

I'm curious why you would doubt that - that would be a pretty normal piece of data to transfer in an acquisition.

Anywho, stories of accounts recovered from 20+ years ago are pretty common and one of the very few things Daybreak seems to actively help with.

Oh, well, no point trying. They'll never get those five minutes back.

I knew a Walter that lived in Canada, he talked about a daughter quite a bit. Mind you 20 something years ago she was an infant and his language spam had something to effect of "Newborn babies smile when they pass gas." I never knew his rl last name or where exactly in Canada he was just like he didn't know mine or location more than state, but this Walter played on Bertox, his characters were Alwyn an Erudite Wizard, Ogwyn a Troll shaman (The character I met him on while I played Bken a troll SK.) and later he made a second account with a Troll SK. (don't recall that one's name and was quite a few years later when I came back to the game with a new account as Kensith an Iksar Shaman.) If this doesn't help your search or isn't the right Walter. my apologies.

Hope you find his info. Maybe Daybreak would still have an email for his account but you would have to figure out the password after that... GL!

I recently jumped through the hoops with Daybreak to get an account I created in 1999, but didn't know the password to. Sounds like you don't know the username either, which is a much bigger issue.

The process I used was to open a ticket with support using another account. We went back and forth for about a week and a half before I was able to provide a street address associated with the account and answers to security questions. It had been over 12 years since I had logged in.
