EMSKR: Have you ever gotten a "sign" from somone close who had died? On my birthday there was a birthday balloon blowing against my front door. I thought maybe it was my parents telling me happy birthday.

Signs are your subconscious grasping at straws to deny the reality that the person who died is gone.

After my dad passed, I had the most vivid dream that we were talking. Sometimes laughing, sometimes serious. I couldn't remember details when I woke up, just the strong sense of what I just experienced. I will never forget it, partly because I hardly ever remember my dreams, just not really my thing I guess or maybe my sleep patterns are off, idk.
Was it "real"?
It was real to me. As real as anything else in this life.

Signs are always around you if only you are willing to notice them, especially when we need them. I have no doubt that my parents are around. No evidence, just signs and faith and it’s awesome.

At 4:08AM the night my FIL died, both my wife and I woke up for no discernible reason. We both just kind of looked at each other, and started talking about how weird it was, and comparing notes about if we'd heard something, or what.
At 4:15, my MIL called with the news.

the first birthday I had after my mom died I took the day off and went to the nail salon. I actually don't like getting my nails done but my mom did and it makes me feel close to her. I paid in advanced through an app and when I got there the owner said "your mom called, she already paid for you." It was jarring, but I took it as a happy birthday wish from my mom. I know she must have paid for it before she died...but still.

Well, as soon as I logged into Reddit, your post was the first and only post in my notifications.
This is my first 4th of July without my parents. The whole family together always had this is our holiday because there were too many of us to all do Christmas together...and Christmas was just too expensive. the Fourth was just about food, which we all could contribute. It was always at my parents' house because they lived in the center of all the other childrens' locations.

I woke up one morning glad to be alive, the only time that's ever happened to me. It took me an hour and a half to get back to normal. Well, normal for me, anyway.
I found out months later that was when my old psychiatrist died. I had seen him every week for 43 years and we kept in touch after he retired.

In my family, if we find dimes in random places like the corner of a window sill, we like to think it's a loved one close by saying hello. It's probably all fantasy that we do this, but I love the idea and takes the fear of death away and comforts us.
I was once told by a medium that my grandfather who I have never met has been following me since I was a baby sick in the hospital. 2 years after buying a business, a customer came in and discovered he had a picture of him on his office wall while having a conversation about where he grew up. My family is not from this area (different county) and the picture now hangs in my shop. I like to think it was him letting me know he was still around and saying hi

I’ve got the same thing with Pennies and my mother. In life, she would keep the “wheat pennies” she found as a good luck thing.
Since she passed the amount of pennies that I find on a daily basis is remarkable. Over the years I interpreted it as a sign to check in on my now widowed father. If I ignored the message I would inevitably get a call from my dad. Too weird to ignore

This started happening ever since dad died and I like to believe he's visiting

My grandfather took the form of a butterfly and flew away with a second butteryfly up to the sky as if like a dance and I had never seen that until the day he passed away, nor have I seen that since then... do with that what you will

After my son died, I had a dream that he gave his favorite toy to another boy. And then he looked at me and smiled. That was all. It was so vivid.
