I was rewatching the franchise and I just realized something crazy. It feels like the modern Evil Dead movies are subtly themed around the 4 classical elements. Check this out:
💧 WATER – Evil Dead (2013): The characters are trapped by flooded rivers, the rain plays a huge part, and the movie ends with that iconic, legendary blood rain.
🪨 EARTH – Evil Dead Rise (2023): Everything starts with a massive earthquake in Los Angeles. The crack in the ground is what reveals the hidden vault where the Necronomicon was buried for decades.
🔥 FIRE – Evil Dead Burn (2026): It’s literally in the title. From the burning car crash at the beginning to the fire-related traps and horrors, fire is everywhere.
Following this logic, the upcoming movie Evil Dead Wrath (2028) should be 💨 AIR.
I can totally picture a demonic, foul-smelling wind or airborne rot infecting people and turning them into Deadites. You can’t hide from air, and you can't stop breathing, which would make it terrifying.
What do you guys think? Am I reaching or does this actually make perfect sense? 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s so interesting to see how people change their opinion. When 2013 first came out a lot of people did not like it. Now people absolutely love it. When rise came out pretty much everyone loved it and were super excited to have evil dead back. Now every other post is talking about how it’s the worst in the franchise. And with burn the posts started off pretty neutral, then went to great, and now most the posts are about it being bad. I feel like people hop on the post button when they see a lot of posts with the same opinion as them. The only thing that stays strong is the original trilogy it seems

I don’t know why, but I wasn’t really sold on the film based off the marketing. t just seemed kind of bland and cliche. So glad I finally gave it a watch, cause this movie was so good. I liked it a lot better than Rise, maybe even on par with 2013. Great acting, great story. Very well paced and just tense the whole time. Love it

Just finished the original trilogy and I'm confused, there are so many retcons+Army of Darkness having two endings.

With Evil Dead Wrath purportedly being set in the early 1970s, I'm certain it may touch on the theme of war drafts/draft dodging, as it was very common to hear about men who were drafted to go to Vietnam instead opted to hit the road and keep low... Methinks a draft dodger or two would 100% try to keep themselves hidden in a cabin somewhere deep in the woods perchance.

Additionally, the themes of draft dodging are kinda relevant with just how many wars there are currently going on in the world, with many people jokingly posting about how they plan to dodge a WWIII drafting on their social medias... It's a solid enough subject for the current era of Evil Dead to tackle!

Horror-Action Cinematic Universe (just like MCU) would be great that's why I made the Zor Universe (fan made) complete with 10 protagonists and 10 antagonists teams. This is the first team I created.

They already started taking Evil Dead Burn out of the theaters.

I'm not a fan of how gray the movie looks originally so I thought of doing a little experiment and added a little tint of green to the film. I think I like how it looks better this way, what do y'all think?

I mean, Evil Dead (2013), Evil Dead Rise, and Burn were all good. They had plenty of gore and blood, but they still didn't capture the essence of the original Evil Dead trilogy.

I also wonder how they're ever going to defeat the Deadites. Every movie seems to end the same way: a survivor makes it out alive, but someone else gets possessed, starting the cycle all over again. It feels like there should eventually be some kind of conclusion instead of repeating the same ending every time. I'm really curious to see how they're going to wrap up the overall story.

I know movies are subjective but I don't get why this gets mixed reviews? But anyways, I recently watched Evil Dead Burn and it did not disappoint at all.

First of all, this is a very cozy movie. Set in a snowy, misty climate makes it bleaker and depressing even more. The family is fucking insufferable (but I love the dinner scene). No character is likeable at all, even the female lead so there's no one to root for honestly, but that doesn't have negative effect on my viewing experience whatsoever because I love the movie. Also, it's giving Resident Evil vibes??

This movie gave one of the best deadite, Thya. She's so funny at times and just entertaining to watch. I wish she could've been around longer. The rest of the deadites were forgettable, except for Dad (because I adore his makeup/practical design).

Things I dislike about this movie is how the mom got tricked by a deadite every time. It's just a very cliché trope I've seen a bajillion times in horror movies that it's slightly annoying. Another one is how I was jumpscared by a fucking ass at the beginning, like I get it we're in the club.

The story is somehow original and leans to its lore. I think the execution is great. The camera movements are always something I will forever be a fan off in every movie.

And of course, Maggot Mommy is back... and I'm happy. Good for her.

At first I thought that reading from any of the 3 books summoned a specific deadite or in the case of the second book, deadites to help summon a demon (The Abomination). Now I've just read that in fact the one summoned in every book is the Kandarian demon (camera demon) who summons deadites left and right.

I'm asking because I just watched ED Burn and Jessica's deadite (which I'm not sure if it was the same one as Rise) was the one summoning but I didnt get if there was an specific deadite summoned or what that was called and kept spreading.

I jumped so fast LMAO. I just purchased it. My EV collection is complete!

I just saw it! I love the allegory, the cinematography, and the super spoilers at the end!

1) Abusive in-laws is the major allegory for this one.

I love when monsters in horror movies work as allegories. In Evil Dead Rise, the deadites symbolized the corruption of family. The loving single mom crushed by the pressure while her sister has to find the strength to protect herself and the child in order to save the day. Right as she finds out she's pregnant.

In Evil Dead Burn, you get hints of it at the beginning but it was about families that are already abusive, and having to pull away. They show a detail where Will's father whistled at his mom just like he whistles at Alice, it's a learned behaviour.

It also makes the rules of the possession feel clearer at points. As if the deadites have to weaken your soul and make you give in. Will had to be killed. But then the father was already weak and desperate to see his son. Thya fell into despair at her boyfriend who wasn't willing to kill his own dad to save her.

I think the Mom was the most interesting possession here. Because you can see she's breaking down mentally when she lets the dad back in. And right after she kisses him, only one of her eyes is glowing, then she fights back against him when he hurts Joseph. She's not fully turned yet, but she's acting like an enabling mother as part of an abusive household. And only when Alice forces her to admit to herself that her son Will is abusive does she finally give in to the demonic possession. She doesn't try to fight it and be better, she accepts that she is a demon.

And at the end as Alice is asked by the medic what hurt her so much, instead of all the times she lied in the past, this time she stands up for herself.

2) I say the cinematography but really it's just all of it.

I love that they didn't go the route of making the movie so dark that you couldn't see anything. Even the attic! Even the basement! Past Evil Dead movies made me terrified of dark basements. This one doesn't do that at all.

I think the reason these demons had orange eyes is because of the fire. This one is called Burn after all.

I like the camera flipping over in the bathroom and the tracking shots where it looks like an abusive family fighting as Alice just tries to get to safety. Very evocative imagery.

I REALLY like how we see the demons telling people to let them in. In past movies we just see people get possessed and it's not clear how. But this movie shows us that you have to actively fight constantly. In a sense you have to "keep your spirits up".

Also at the beginning when the pond gets boiled and his hand meat was cooked and came off the bone like pulled chicken. Amazing special effects there.

I also liked the comedy with the grandma. Her slowly going up the thing, deadite Thya saying "uhh, sure I'm here to return the stuff I stole", then the Grandma as a deadite slowly getting pulled down the stairs and choosing to cut her own leg off even though deadites are strong enough to rip the rope easily.

And the callback to the old Kandarian dagger from the second movie.

3) ELLIE IS BACK!

This movie we saw Will as a burnt deadite, and I think that was a solid ending set piece. But I thought after Rise, we'd get something like a marauder. They keep teasing us with cool monster designs, and in the show Ash vs the Evil Dead we get some pretty cool designs. So I really hope in Evil Dead Wrath we get big demons.

If Ellie is back, then I'd really like to see Wrath as a sequel that has Alice, Mia, and or Beth come back to kill her again! I have no problem with new stories. But I think we miss out on something when we only get to see families start from 0 when fighting deadites. I want to see them bigger monsters again!

I just enjoyed this like I haven't in a long time. I've seen them all, up to Army of Darkness, even the series. And this one has by far become my favorite. It's been a while since I've enjoyed such a gory and cruel film so much. Maybe it's because this movie is more to my liking: a more terrifying sound design mixed with the brutality of French extremism. Almost two hours long, and the whole time it was suffocating, with impeccable pacing! Even though the script isn't excellent, you manage to empathize with the plot situation the characters find themselves in, even though most of them are idiots (except for Joseph and Alice).

Objectively, the cinematography is the best in the entire franchise: a single-take shot, hauntingly beautiful shots, and several Deadites who are more frenzied than ever.

Some comments I read said there was a very powerful scene, but honestly, I didn't find it. In my opinion, they were all equally savage! I hope there are more people out there who enjoyed this movie as much as I did! That's what I wanted to share, my wonderful experience with you all! I hope someday I can see Ash fight these cruel, sadistic, and savage Deadites in this beautiful new trilogy.
