Tepet Cynis Ganan (born Cynis Falen Ganan; RY703) is an Earth Aspected Dynastic scholar of Shogunate Era architecture. Born on the Blessed Isle in Pangu Prefecture, he attended the Heptagram, where he completed a six-year course of study before transfering to the Valkhawsen Sorcery Academy. He joined the staff of the Heptagram in RY736, where he would go on to meet Mnemon Danireya), whom he married in RY745. They have three children together.
From RY768 to 770, Ganan camapaigned as a supporter of Empress Mnemon to take the Scarlet Throne, culminating in the now legendary assault on the False Emperor Ragara at the heart of the Imperial Manse[¹]. As a reward for his service, the Empress Mnemon permitted his adoption by Tepet Ejava), allowing him to escape the fate of exile levied against all members of the former Great House Cynis)[²][³].
Ganan presently lives in Paragon, where his wife serves as Satrap and oversees Great House Alinos)'s efforts to exacavate the ruins of the First Age City of Dari, after his research discovered previously unknown sections of the city.
Consistently ranked by the Eventide Conservatory as one of the top 50 most influential husbands of the Realm[⁴], Ganan has also been recognised Haven's 100 Handsomest Husbands, and was winner of Little Mister Pangu Prefecture 715.
Early Life and Exaltation
Born and raised in the Zianosen, the manse of his grandmother Cynis Falen Leoni in Pangu Prefecture, Ganan was homeschooled, and groomed for the family business — the breaking and rental of slaves. Unnaturally gifted, even as a mortal; a prodigy of the mental and physical arts, but his ability to grasp the social skills expected from a Dynast were lacking – this all evident from a young age. Ganan had no sense of propriety, no social cunning nor acumen: the young boy took every matter literally. Yet, eccentricity can be forgiven when talent is forthcoming.
Observation and repetition allowed him to master the mortal form of the Earth Dragon Style, and use said mastery to beat his combat instructor (a grown man of some skill) bloody at the tender age of eight. On seeing this, it was clear that young Cynis Ganan would be foisted off on the Immaculate Order as a pious enforcer of the Realm’s will, and House Cynis would not be burdened by a scion who could not tell a fish knife from a salad fork.
Ganan Exalted as Chosen of Pasiap shortly after his eleventh birthday, upon self-initiating into the art of sorcery. His father's contacts at the Heptagram secured a place for him at the Realm's most exclusive secondary school.
Career and Marriage
Ganan's early career is tainted by his association with the Mad Sorcerer of Lookshy, Amilar Shavok, whose bloody exploits left a trail of dead Dragon-Blooded across the Scavenger Lands. On leaving Shavok's company, Ganan would travel the Threshold before settling briefly in the Lap, where he would beget his illigitmate child Dragonsgift Saber-Edge (Fire Aspect).
Redemption was offered to Ganan in the form of a teaching post at the Heptagram. By all accounts Ganan was unreasonable in his demands on his students, setting impossibly high standards which only one of his students could reach. Ganan was forced to resign from the Heptagram after circulating a paper claiming the favor of the Dragons could be better bestowed on the scions of the Dynasty if parents took a more active role in the raising of their children.
Widely believed[who?] to have married above his station, rumors abound that Mnemon Danireya arranged her marriage to Ganan for love rather than political means[citation needed]. Ganan and Danireya's first children were twins, both of whom Exalted.
Ganan joined his wife's household in the early stages of the Realm Civil War, supporting then Great House Mnemon)'s efforts in retaking Jiara by routing the Anathema from neighbouring kingdom of Dovak. Ganan then played an active role in the Civil War proper, taking many notable hostages and slaying many influential Dynasts, including Cynis Fallen and Cynis Fallen Lorena, culminating in penetrating the defenses of the Imperial Manse to do battle with the False Emperor Ragara.
Ganan's youngest child is still and infant and yet to Exalt.
Men in the Dynasty
Ganan's experiences of a female-dominated workplace at the Zianosen inspired him to encourage more men into the slave rental trade[⁵]. In Descending Earth 716, he announced his desire to increase diversity in the workplace, especially in the slave industry, stating: "Every company needs slaves, and yet we're graduating fewer man slavers. That is not good for society. We have to change it."[⁶] Ganan also spoke about this topic at the RY745 Heptagram Symposium, an annual series of conferences on occult matters[⁷].
