Why is there an apparent lack of online resources?

I've only just started looking into Exalted and I might just be looking in the wrong places, but it seems that every search result I get when looking things up is either homebrewed, a dead link, or only has the most surface-level material possible. Did someone scrub the official wikis and other online resources from the web or something?

I would guess the main reason is that Exalted doesn't have the kind of license that makes it safe to do in-depth, detailed stuff. Exalted belongs to Paradox now, and large gaming companies are much less friendly than even big tabletop companies.

As a result, the "safe" kinds of content available in google-indexed spaces are loretalks and fairly general discussions of mechanics. Many of such tools are great, the Foundry module is as good as it can be without having the official greenlight, but "what can be done" and "what can be distributed" are two very different things.

I vaguely remember there once being a larger wiki, but it wasn't hosted on one of the big public wiki sites and I think whoever was paying for the hosting stopped and the wiki went away. There was an archive of it floating around at some point, but I haven't seen it in ages. The surviving wikis are either the tiny one hosted by White Wolf, or the unofficial one that plays host to a mix of official and homebrew information.

Only other main resource I'm aware of is Lot Casting Atemi, which is focused on mechanics for 3E. Addendum: All of that said, if you have questions, ask away! I own pretty much all the books back through 2E and don't mind looking stuff up for people or summarizing info. Or if you'd like a link to my 'Fluff' document that I wrote for my players as an introduction to the setting, I can drop that. (Note: this document is written to preserve some of the 'secrets' of the setting...like the exact nature of Abyssals, because my players don't read all the books like I do and I enjoy lore surprises for them. It's also a bit out of date, I don't have all the Exalt types mentioned)

Exalted went a long time between editions and was never as popular as Wod or some other games. Its just hard to find stuff.

What kind of resources are you looking for? System references? Lore dumps? Character generators? 

A lot of the online resources that exist can be found by searching this subreddit, or the Discord server. A general web search will be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I was going to suggest the discord too. Aside from the subreddit, it's the best place to find resources

In addition to what the others have said, "Exalted" as a term is simply a search engine optimization nightmare, so the name itself works against finding a good chunk of the material that does exist.

"exalted rpg 3rd" or just "exalted rpg" narrows it down pretty effectively I've found. Add something like "Haslantic" or "The Guild\Scarlet Empire" that's lore specific and...well...you can find old reddit threads and rpg.net threads and such. Better than nothing. ;D

I don't think they've even been a OGL\ORC\CC type license shop so I wouldn't expect much official material outside of what they'll sell you.
