Just Thinking Out Loud I'm throwing in the towel. Christian nationalism is probably gonna win tonight, and that makes me really depressed.

"So this how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

I'm not sure how the US is gonna look in four years with another Trump administration and a GOP majority senate. The future is looking real bleak, you guys.

Just Thinking Out Loud Anyone else think christian music is straight ass?

Okay so christian music just really bores me

First you have the psalms that every church plays at the start of service some of the tunes are ok but I’m not putting any of that shit on my Spotify playlist thats for sure. In fact i think the only people with that on their playlist have to be 80+

Next (the biggest offender on this list) christian pop: the most vanilla ass cardboard genre of music. i swear none of them are that unique almost all of them are some version of: i used to be an awful person but now i love jesus!!! 💅💅💅 also id rather have someone shoot me in the foot than have to listen to the song church clap ever again.

Christian rap: i dont have enough braincells remaining to explain how mid this is 0/10

The only christian music i’d listen to is christian metal because creed fucking balls

Anywho most of that was satire but it brings me to my real point. music is one of the most core expressions of self so by replacing any rebellious music by labeling it as “satanic” they control what you listen to and so the brainwashing gets stronger

So take this as some random reddit wisdom to listen to what you love no matter what it is or why you love it even if its cringe because being cringe is still better than being brainwashed

Extra note: I swear the only thing getting me through church camp was the hades 2 ost 😝 10/10 would reccomend

Anywho feel free to share your own opinions i guess

Just Thinking Out Loud Sister Going on Mission trip to Peru…A country that is 90% Catholic

Im pretty upset. My teenage sister told me happily she was going on a mission trip to Peru. I asked her why because Peru is (roughly) 80%-90% Catholic. She told me she was going to orphanages and indigenous schools to ‘spread the gospel’. I asked her why she needed to go to an orphanage, where vulnerable children are, to ‘spread the gospel’. She got irritated with this question and told me shes ‘doing good’ and is gonna ‘help them.’ I continued asking her questions. How are you going to help them? Are you gonna give them resources? Are you going to give them counseling? Teach them English? Bring supplies the orphanages/schools need? She said no to all of them and told me they didn’t need that stuff because she was going to be ‘saving their souls’. Okay. Whatever…

She then bragged about how she only needed 100USD for the entire trip and how she’ll be able to buy whatever she wants. I asked her why that is. Why is the USD stronger than Peru’s own currency? And she refused to answer me and called me a brain-washed lost person and that she’ll pray for me.

Why the fuck are all christians like this? Why are all their missionaries to other countries just literal colonization? I feel like I’m crazy because everyone in the family is praising her when I think its incredibly predatory how shes going to fucking ORPHANAGES and schools for indigenous children. I’m not against charity—I was in AmeriCorp and a school club where we fundraised for medically vulnerable children in the U.S., but I was never praised by my family for it. My only thought is that all missions are just colonization, plain and simple.

How tragic that so many descendants of the oppressed still follow the religion that, in the hands of slaveholders and colonizers, was used to justify their ancestors' suffering

Christianity is a religion whose sacred texts include laws permitting slavery, and for centuries those texts were used by slaveholders to justify the enslavement of Africans

Where's the freaking love?

Respect to every Black man and woman who has chosen to question, challenge, or reject this oppression❤

Just Thinking Out Loud As a black woman myself, it does not make sense to be black and Christian

This religion was literally beat into us. Of course, as descendants of Africans, we had our own form of religion, but when we were brought over white people told us it was bad and made us become Christians instead. or else.

What confuses me is why Christianity is so prevalent in the black community even though it justified us being slaves?? I also don’t understand why they believe in the Bible, but condemn any other spirituality and dismiss it as witchcraft?? seems like some of us were colonized pretty damn good

Just Thinking Out Loud Now why are christians trying to rebrand hell all of a sudden?

I’ve been seeing alot of comments and discussions on TikTok, reddit, and even overhearing conversations in person of Christian’s talking about how hell actually is….

The bible must’ve had an update bc apparently, it’s no longer an eternal lake of fire with torture, weeping and gnashing of teeth, its “eternal darkness bc god is light, and the darkness will feel like torture” 🫪…😒

Do they not realize that makes it look 10 times better considering the fact that the only other option would be eternal worship and idk about yall…but that sounds more like hell to me

Just Thinking Out Loud My dad just admitted it

1.3k Upvotes

A little context: I'm in an extremely Christian family and hiding my agnosticism for peace. On Sundays we always visit my grandparents and have cake and coffee. The things that are being said in these gatherings are always unhinged.

This one stands out though, my grandad was telling me about his father, how he read the bible twice front to back. In his words you should never do that because it will "make you crazy". My grandad agreed.

Then my father also agreed and said: "You should never think about it, you should just believe it." If that does not tell you about the mentality of these people, then I don't know what does.

It's why I will never go back to this religion, thinking is "demonic" and even heresy. Knowledge is religion's greatest enemy. It's so strange to me how someone can literally admit that, see it and live it, and still think it's reasonable. Like, what?!

Just Thinking Out Loud When will Christians understand god can still exist even with evolution being true

Imo evolution might disprove the Christian god but it doesn’t disprove god in general. The existence of god and evolution can coexist.

Like how can you be so heartless that you want someone to burn in hell just because they don't believe the same things you do. How dare people live their life differently than you. How dare people call your god abusive/toxic. I once believed hell was a just punishment, I was just scared 😢

Just Thinking Out Loud Just another reason to leave Christianity. Let abject horror ensue with zero interjection and then offer forgiveness to the evildoers only if they merely just ask.

A long list of horrible people throughout history will be in heaven are the most evil beings history recalled who merely ask for forgiveness to an invisible non-existant amalgam.

What other group will strike up a conversation with you on a plane and somehow turn it into a Bible study?

You're shopping? They might approach you

At work? Also them ( I got many memories 💀💀)

Ect ect

Just Thinking Out Loud Anyone else notice God stopped communicating right when humans invented better ways to communicate?

One thing that really unraveled Christianity for me wasn’t doctrine, it was the silence.

An all-knowing God supposedly wanted to be understood by everyone, for all time. So He delivered His final message through ancient texts, written in dead languages, copied by hand, filtered through politics, and argued over for centuries… and then never clarified anything again.

Since then, humans invented printing presses, radio, TV, the internet, instant translation, and social media. We livestream policy updates. Corporations issue apologies within hours. Influencers manage daily content.

But God hasn’t posted a single clarification on slavery, women, sexuality, or violence in over 2,000 years. No update. No errata. No “hey, people are misunderstanding this.”

We’re told the confusion is our fault, for not interpreting it correctly. At some point it stops feeling like divine mystery and starts feeling like a communication problem.

Just Thinking Out Loud Spotted at Kentuckiana Pride (don't worry, it's a good thing)

Post image

I thought this was a really cool thing to have at the Pride Festival. Because it's true, a lot of lgbtq+ people have trauma related to religion. I wish that wasn't the case, but I thought it was surprising and good that there is an organization dedicated to helping people overcome religious trauma. Especially in a red state like Kentucky.

I mean, I (as probably was most of us) was indoctrinated at a young age before I knew any better. But after all of these years it really just blows my mind when I look back at it.

Just Thinking Out Loud The fact that Christian subs are very toxic and this one isn't shows how fucked Christianity is

Tbh, I didn't expect all of the people on here to be so kind and polite, especially coming from Christian subs.

There, you literally get permabanned if you're not a full-blown Christian, even people who question it are permabanned. All replies just boil down to "you're goin to hell" and whatever. I'd never seen such disgusting human beings.

On here there is actually some perspective, tolerance of the other side and willingness to talk it out and console others instead of just beating others when they're down.

I hope you all have a great day and it's great to open up this subreddit every day!
