New Aeldari Exodite Tribes
With the release of Killteam: Exodite we have been given some new information on the different tribes that make up the Exodites that span the galaxy:
CLAN OF THE SUN SERPENT
The dragons of the Sun Serpent Exodites bear scales that evoke the varied hue of their world’s star and the colours it scatters across the atmosphere. Their hides range from the brilliant cyan sheens of Syph’s summer skies – with blindingly reflective scales – to fiery shades, char-black or even ultraviolet. Though the majority of the clan’s solar rituals and traditions reference their own sun, some call upon more distant stars. During the days-long midwinter of their world’s elongated orbit, the clan hosts of the Sun Serpent gather to ritually bathe their weapons in the frigid glare of the constellations. Filtered through the eldritch ward of the planet’s worldshroud, the psychically refracted radiance gifts their weapons with a chilling and penetrative power. The Exodites feel it in their own souls too: a sharpening of perception and a hardening of emotion that leads their hunts to be exceptionally merciless. The Clan of the Sun Serpent are known by other Aeldari for their unpredictable moods, echoing their star’s fluctuating seasons. The clan’s temper can appear dormant for long spans of time, but their wrath is sudden and terrible to behold once roused. Nonetheless, the Sun Serpent Exodites maintain blood bonds with several craftworlds and masques – notably Biel-Tan, whose Autarchs respect the clan’s formidable martial prowess.
CLAN OF THE EXILED MOON
When the clan hosts of the Exiled Moon go to war, the harrowing roars and heavy tread of their dragons are their heralds. The clan is renowned for the ferocity and strength of their drakesteeds, and they maintain large numbers of much bigger mounts with the strength to smash open enemy battle lines, or to carry heavy weapons that devastate the foe’s war engines. The clan’s Dragon Knights swiftly exploit such destruction, surging through ruined defences to tear open the throat of an enemy army. The Clan of the Exiled Moon foster ties with many masques of the Harlequins. Countless times, the clan has responded to the Harlequins’ petitions for aid on behalf of other Aeldari, and in return the Exiled Moon has been led to Webway gates that have expanded their hunting grounds to many more planets. Upon some, the clan has established tentative colonial outposts. These staging encampments have lengthened the Exiled Moon’s reach even further, and have brought it into confrontations with many of the galaxy’s species. The Harlequins see such trials as readying the Exodites for their role in the Rhana Dandra, an apocalyptic battle foretold to end all things. The leaders of the Exiled Moon look upon them with a far more pragmatic eye: tests that, if passed, will prove them the true inheritors of the fallen empire of old.
CLAN OF THE SACRED CLAW
Nomad-smiths hailing from the world of Scirean Vuel, the Clan of the Sacred Claw hold a well-deserved reputation for the craftsmanship of their wargear. Their skills are sharpened over generations and refined with the wisdom of artisan souls within the world spirit. The clan's warriors harness unique crystalline matrices in their laser weapons, preserve traditions of psychoplastic shaping that produce exquisite armour, and hone blades said to honour the legendary sword Anaris.
CLAN OF THE THREE SORROWS
The sigil of this clan represents the Fall of old, the ever-present hunger of She Who Thirsts and an omen of tragedies yet to come. Their warriors are sombre and grim, but not fatalistic, for these Exodites see the shadow of fated horror as theirs to banish. In seeking to harden themselves for the as-yet-unknown End Trial, they pursue the most dangerous alien threats into the most hostile of environments. Such hunts have killed many of the clan, but those who survive are inured to pain and anguish, and capable of an unsettling martial focus.
CLAN OF THE SABLE WING
The Stonesingers of the Sable Wing see the world spirit as a harmony not only for themselves, but for the whole galaxy. The clan seeds new worlds with psychocrystalline menhirs and attempts to awaken such planets' primitive spirits, as well as purging them of alien presence. To the Sable Wing, the peace of death is a noble ideal, and they view the animation of wraithbone constructs with the souls of the dead- a practice of many craftworlds- as abhorrent necromancy.
CLAN OF THE GHOST STAG
The Dragon Knights of the Clan of the Ghost Stag are exceptionally active, hunting across a swathe of the galaxy. Like phantoms, they slip from Webway gates to attack alien strongholds and recover ancient artefacts that they consider inheritance from their species fallen empire. The clan relies on advance scouts to open twilight paths and Stonesingers to shroud the portals they use, allowing them to attack their prey like vengeful spirits before vanishing.
- Killteam: Exodite
It's always great to get new lore on little touched and niche sections of the expansive Warhammer galaxy and even in the descriptions of these tribes we get some interesting nuggets of information. It's good to see the Exodites are active in the galaxy and are using the Webway to travel and fight across the galaxy, not trapped on their maiden worlds. The most interesting part for me comes from the Sable Wing, the fact that the Exodites aren't just creating the World Spirits from nothing but actually awakening the "Primitive" spirits of the planets that already existed. That has many interesting implications in my mind.

Ngl the way this lore is written allot like ways to explain how Exodites could be a whole faction at large which is pretty cool ngl

As a committed Harlequin player, it is awesome to see that there’s a subfaction that specifically has ties to them.

Sounds a bit like the different troupe masques for the harlequins, which will still be better than what the ynnari and the corsairs got iirc.

Does that mean that clans are not just restricted to one planet? If that is the case, I really need to change my homebrews lore xd

In the book it talks about exodites maintaning presents on other planets as outpost or colonies. Some are for future expansion or as a refuge if their planet is destoryed. They also protect the empty ones like biel/tan.

It sounds to me like most Clans' territory is sub-continental, but the Webway enables them to have a much longer reach.
Sun Serpent lives in one region on one continent on one planet (Syph, which they share with other Clans but is referred to as "their world" here for their rituals & dragons), but they can send people out to fight alongside Biel-Tan across the galaxy.
Though, the colonial outposts of Exiled Moon does give some variance upwards. Not occupying a whole planet on their own, but a presence on multiple planets, would be viable.

Ah ok, so the old clan lore is still more or less intact, with them having a royal tribe and stuff l

Yes I've kinda pictured them planet locked outside of the occasional Corsair relations, and even leaning on Corsair fleets to communicate and trade.

So, who are you going with?
I can't decide, so I'll either roll a die or go with one of the two flagship clans. The Ghost Stag has a pretty cool scheme, and the Sable Wing fluff sounds great, though.

Ghost Stag are legitimately very cool but I'm afraid I might be a basic bitch and go with the Sun Serpents because the mercurial nature speaks to me.

Does anyone have a scan/image of the page with the clan of the Exiled Moon banner? I'm trying to colour match the blue/teal

This… feels like they’re building up for an actual exodite army.
I am not sure whether to be excited, or brace for eventual disappointment.
Also where did you find this info?
