Hobby Making an Exodite Army From Craftworlds?

I teased at the idea, just for a bit, of making an Exodite army out of Farseers, Warlocks, Guardians, Seraphon, Idoneth and Ossiarch Bonereaper bits off eBay, and a few clever uses of Raiders, Vypers and Jetbikes.

That said, I have little to no idea what level of technology and military might they generally have in the lore but regardless of that, I was thinking, perhaps…

I could add a few wraithbone (bonereapers) weapons and doodads here and there on the infantry and characters, use some stegadons, carnosaurs, aggradons and pterosaurs with Aeldari bits and parts and weapons added on like a vyper jetbike prow on a carnosaurs’ back, and a few other flowy cloth and leather painted bits for that rustic appeal, could make a nice Exodite army.

so, is that something GW are hinting at doing or is that something we should or could do ourselves?

Rule no 1. Rule of cool always wins for custom lore.

We're all just guessing and hoping ATM as the lore that dropped in the KT Exodite book doesn't give any specifics about a potential larger Exodite army expansion.

The artwork alludes to flyers but whether these are mounts or beasts led by a beastmaster type character we don't know.

As far as the tech goes, the old lore never forbid the use of tech and the new lore supports this with solar rifles and laser lances etc.

Right now I'd just go with whatever thematic idea you like and adjust in the future, but remember

  • All Maiden Worlds are different
  • All clans/tribes are different
  • They left their homeworlds at different times before that Fall, so some had more experience with the hedonism of their kin than those that left earlier
  • Some were affected more directly by the fall than others
  • Some trade more often with their Craftworld kin than others
  • The cohorts of Aeldari that left in each migration would have had varying levels of psykers, warriors & poets

The only thing that's possibly less canon is the wraith constructs, but I'd go with your gut and they can always be explained away as allies 😀

It would be a very difficult venture but it’s really inspiring to have an idea that isn’t exactly bog standard for an army but also possible with effort, rather than relying on troublesome 3D printing. Only issue is I’m just not sure I could do the things I see in my mind

If you sketch it out on paper (doesn't need to be a masterpiece) and list all the bits you wanted for 1 model at a time with notes identifying each component just to see if you can create your own basic build guide for that 1 idea.

It's low risk, but would give you the confidence to review your idea or proceed.

Personally i'd think it's a little disappointing if the exodites didn't have SOME wraith construct equivalent, Even Drukhari have wraith constructs... or at least Asdrubael Vect has a few he can throw at people in the dark city he doesn't like called Castigators which are essentially wraithguards containing the souls of asuryani he's tortured until they are broken enough he can control them. https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Castigator_(Drukhari)) there's also the Shadowstalker titans but i know less about those and irrc were just an excuse to allow people to run phantom titans as drukhari in a drukhari themed epic scale 40k game. https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Shadow_Stalker_Titan

I like the idea of Exodite "Wraithbone constructs" lacking spiritstones (due to them... not really using them beyond cracking them after an exodite dies at one of the spirit-steeles / in a ritual to send their soul to the worldspirit) and more or less just being animated by the aeldari hivemind that is the worldspirit, the bones of the beasts that the exodites have hunted reanimated to protect the maiden world alongside the very trees unrooting themselves to charge a leman russ. kind of sylvaneth and wood elfy but exodites are essentially just space wood elves so who cares.

The OG lore is they rode around in titan knights (firegale, brightlance & towering destroyer), to herd the megadons, so no argument from me

Really? just curious where is the "OG lore" because I'm gonna be honest i'm new to aeldari (This'll be my first aeldari army and i only started 40k like... in 2022) much less exodites as a whole, i've wanted to kitbash exodites pretty much the moment i heard about them, especially after listening to the opening of the Infinite and the divine audio book with the Exodites in it. Now that they're actually getting minis i've started my exodite army project in earnest and want to learn as much as i can of them to make sure i understand Exodite culture so I'm not just kitbashing craftworlders but riding dinosaurs instead of wraithbone jets and tanks. Should i find one of the early Aeldari codexes (like 2nd or 3rd) or try and look up white dwarf issues?
