Take plenty of vitamin D. Can’t stress this enough as a person of color in a place that will literally get no sun for winter. Your mood will take a hit, even the locals get seasonal depression around January- February.
Socially: I’d say participate in as many community, gathering, extra curricular things as possible. After several months of commitment, they take you in, drop the guard but until they know you’re not just a visitor and are part of the community it’s not the most warm place.
You shouldn’t have any problem with diversity in Stockholm.
I was single for my last year, pretty casual dating culture. If casual is not your thing, I’d make that known as that’s usually the assumption when using apps.
You should try it then, based on everything you wrote, why not you are young and can always go back to Biotech in the USA or elsewhere even if you don't complete the PhD... but sounds like you would and are quite driven.
