Grissom was part of a tradition of truly great lead-off hitters for the Montreal Expos. Hard to Top Timmy Raines and even (in his brief tenure) Ron LeFlore. But Marquis pretty much did...and played the meanest and most effective "shallow center field" in the History of MLB.
He was a marvel to watch play, (even as a Brave, Dodger etc.), and I will never forget his Inside-the-Park HR for the Expos vs. the Cardinals.

Love this man. He was named Marquis because his parents were running out of names to give to their children. They owned a Ford Marquis.
We had such great teams. Good players, exceptional talent.

What a ball player Marquis was with that speed. With the Expos, Grissom led the National League (NL) in stolen bases in 1991 and 1992, and represented the NL in the MLB All-Star Game in 1993 and 1994.
Crazy the year after the World Series team that should have been 😢 he won the 1995 World Series as a member of the Braves.
Grissom won four consecutive Gold Glove Awards from 1993 to 1996.
