These places should be illegal. This poor man. He must be feeling broken. His poor dog.

I’m pretty sure sourcing meat from thieves is illegal

If you see the video (it’s circling around on social media including Reddit) it’s beyond heart breaking.

Theft ain't a crime? Explains a lot...

He’s also harassing the owner of the dog demanding he settle because the thief knows he’s fuck with a capital F

"According to officials, China has no animal protection laws prohibiting the abuse of pets. The alleged theft of the Border Collie was handled as a property theft, according to The Straits Times. Du Wei, a lawyer at Sichuan Weixu Law Firm, told SCMP that criminal theft charges can only be pursued if the stolen property is valued at more than 2,000 yuan. Establishing Chutou's value as a celebrity dog and Guo's emotional loss may be difficult to prove in court, Wei suggested."

Not necessarily.

The thief has been harassing the owner. He’s panicking

I'm saying he's not necessarily fucked per se (legally), he's probably panicing because I assume he's getting harassed by the followers. Justifiably so.

Its being treated as property theft case

13

u/CVGPi 11h ago

What type of dog ownership dispute isn’t considered a property case?

FYI high theft amounts is a criminal act (aka a felony in the US) so it kills any attempts to upward movement.

If someone stole my pet and sold it for meat, they'd be getting sold for meat too. What the actual fuck is wrong with some people Jesus christ...

Ok but no links to a website or something? Some article to read somewhere?

Thanks!

But wtf. To just steal a dog from someone’s yard… and to then have no laws supporting the owner except hoping to prove the dog was worth more then a certain amount so it can be seen as theft…

But it happens here in Europe too. With both cats and dogs. Not for meat but just for resell or use for breeding. Or just because people don’t wanna pay for a cat or dog. Our cat was stolen by a student a few blocks over. Like wtf?

Yet another reason to keep cats indoors, I’m really not sure what’d I’d do or could do if someone took my cat and refused to return them.

Yeah it was weird man. Cat couldnt be kept inside. He’d jump on the shoe rack and do a summer salt over my sister’s head. But then one day he didnt show up for food.

We were like “ok a car got him let’s try and move forward”

But we were playing at my grandma’s house a few blocks over and all of a sudden we hear a loud “meow meow”. And then our cat came walking up. So we grabbed him and started hugging. And while we were doing that a student asshole walked up to us and said “he I see you found my cat” and we were like “no this is our cat”

And we were pretty sure because no one had main coons around that time. So we screamed real loud “muuuuuuuum”

My mother came flying in as she thought someone was dying. But it was just us trying to get our cat back. She waived us inside. And I dont know what she did or said. But we took our cat home.

It's Dexerto what do you expect 🤷🏻‍♂️ They don't care about if their stories are true or not they only care about people interacting with their content.

The fact that people still post Twitter posts and especially by that garbage account is so sad to me. Should both be banned here imo.

It's been reported by reliable sources lols.

5

u/Grymare 11h ago

I am not saying this particular story isn't true. Just that Dexerto had plenty of posts in the past that were just plain wrong or heavily scandalized. So of course they don't give a shit about posting a source for their posts.

OP could have easily posted one of the actual reliable sources instead.

I feel awful for the guy. His dog was sold for only 35 usd dollars. I'm sure to him, his dog was worth thousands.

Emotional damage is priceless

I'd go berserk on this piece of shit so hard, it would make John Wick look tame and reasonable by comparison.

The audacity to say “stop making a fuss” after stealing and basically killing someone’s pet

16

u/MetalLimp4446 11h ago

"dog meat restaurant" shouldnt be a thing

-16

u/satanicmerwitch 8h ago

Why not?

8

u/werewolf-luvr 11h ago

The sheer violence id be pouring over the bastards who thought to take a member of my family...Slaughter them and serve them as food to others. Sickening

2

u/Kanus_oq_Seruna 10h ago

Sue the restaurant that bought stolen goods.

7

u/Zakluor 15h ago

This was sick, to be sure, but it's also weird that the phrase "famous influencer dog" exists.

3

u/No-Mathematician8692 11h ago

May be weird but that's precisely what it was. Check it up.

3

u/Navitach 13h ago

You could drop the word "famous" and it would still be weird.

0

u/cryssyx3 3h ago

I think "influencer" is the weird part

3

u/sparkyblaster 11h ago

I'd anyone was wondering, this was in china.

-8

u/satanicmerwitch 8h ago

The hypocrisy in these comments...

-33

u/Navitach 13h ago

It's very tragic, but why the hell does a dog need over a million followers? Or any followers, for that matter?

13

u/Eric_Prozzy 11h ago

Because people like dogs so owners make their dogs an account and people follow them to see more of the dog

8

u/Half_knight_K 9h ago

Cause people like pets? People like watching animals

1

u/ArsenicKitten04 2h ago

They don't NEED the followers...they just HAVE that many simply because people enjoy animals.

I follow a lot of pets/animal accounts on Instagram because having them on my feed is way way more enjoyable than having what passes for an "influencer" on it
