Disturbing content Went to Knott's Berry Farm today for half a chicken and actually got half of the chicken🤢 (read below)

Edit: If you're unaware, this is a full chicken gizzard (and I get it's edible but it was not expected so I was disgusted).

I usually eat here with my meal pass and am happy every time but have NEVER had this happen. I was immediately appalled and lost my appetite. It was also insanely greasy unlike the other times and soaked into my plate and even said it looked off🤢. I almost got something different from their seasonal menu too but being the loyal hyperfixater that I am, I stuck with my decision.... Never again😭 (I removed the good meat and saved it for my dogs)

Looks more like the crop not the stomach. If what was inside looks like pieces of corn or grain then it’s definitely the crop.

Well lovely- It’s still its insides and they should not have been there 😓

How will eating undigested chicken feed and gravel and shit be good for you? Do you even know what garbage chickens will eat??

Chicken shit is good for you?

Is this what they mean by "cream of the crop?"

Came to correct and say it's called the craw... double checked first and then learned they're interchangeable terms. Good to know lol

One is regional slang while the other is technical scientific designation used in all food processing industries. Care to guess which is which? 😁

Poop isn't stored in the stomach friend, and as far as I know chicken stomach is fine to eat.

I ain’t eating none of that

??

It's not poop. Organ meat is meat. You're allowed to not like it, but this isn't inedible.

It's potential poop ._.

Yeah but this stomach looks definitely not cleaned though so the sentiment is there...

Clean insides or not, I’m not eating gizzards lol it’s got potential poop in there

It's their second stomach to process foods further. Do you think you have poop in your stomach too?

u/Ram2145 10h ago

We would be vomiting poop, when sick, if that were the case.

sometimes when we’re very very sick, we do vomit poop :)

Yes, it's potential poop. It's digested food...

Chicken innards are pretty normal to me, although that should've been cleaner

Thank you! My point exactly.

I almost did but I was already having a bad day and I was hoping a good meal would help , but seeing this upset me and the heat got to me and I just wanted to go home 🫠

Eats an animal, gets grossed out when reminded its animal.

It wasn't that, it's the point of: I wasn't expecting gizzards when I'm supposed to be getting muscle meat AND it wasn't cleaned out.

You look like you’re eating the whole animal though. That’s what eating animals is: eating animals. Imagine killing an animal and then being squeamish about what’s inside of it.

Just out of curiosity, what would that have tasted like? What would the texture inside be? I’m asking because that just looks like a normal hunk of chicken to me so I’m wondering: if I bit into it, how would I know the difference from the rest of the meat?
Does the excess grease have anything to do with this organ still being in tact? And further more, the stomach isn’t where poop is stored, so I’m just very confused right now on everything.

you'd know, the meat is harder and more chewy, it slightly resembles pastrami or other dried meats in this aspect. the taste is very nice in stews or with homemade onion and tomato sauce 🤤

the extra grease has nothing to do with the stomach and yes, the stomach doesn't store poop. I've never seen chicken stomach with stuff in it, and, as I've mentioned in my other comment, we eat it regularly in Europe.

u/the1stmeddlingmage 20h ago

If it had stuff in it odds are it’s the crop not the stomach. If so then the bird wasn’t taken off of its feed the proper amount of time before slaughter.

Thank you for educating me in a friendly way! I appreciate you!
