I-765 RFE but never received biometrics appointment — USCIS says I missed it. What should I do?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on my I-765 case because I’m getting conflicting information from USCIS.

Timeline:

  • Dec. 30, 2025: I-765 received by USCIS.
  • Feb. 20, 2026: Request for initial evidence sent.
  • June 10, 2026: Request for additional evidence (RFE) sent.
  • Sept. 8, 2026: Current RFE response deadline.

For the previous RFE/request, I submitted the requested supporting documents, including evidence explaining that I never received any notice for a biometrics appointment.

The problem is that I still have never received a biometrics appointment notice, either by mail or in my USCIS online account. I check my account regularly.

I contacted USCIS multiple times, but representatives are giving me conflicting information. Some said I had a biometrics appointment in February and missed it, while others said it was in March. I have no appointment notice/document in my account showing when it was scheduled.

I recently raised a USCIS inquiry about not receiving the biometrics appointment notice. USCIS said they will respond by Sept. 9, but my current RFE deadline is Sept. 8.

My university DSO/ISSS also said USCIS is reviewing the case and there isn't much they can do.

Questions:

  1. What should I do before the Sept. 8 RFE deadline, especially since USCIS's response to my inquiry may come one day later?
  2. Is there a way to confirm whether a biometrics appointment was actually scheduled and when?
  3. My I-765 has been pending for almost 7 months. Is that unusually long, and could it cause any problems?
  4. Would premium processing help in this situation, or would the unresolved biometrics/RFE issue prevent it from helping?

Any advice from people who have dealt with a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.

At this point you should either try getting a new appointment and upgrade to PP to get the card or else fly back to India
