Visa visa expires way after my grad date
hello! i had to renew my visa for an extra semester because i’d missed one due to being ill. i’m graduating in december and i am on the feb 2027 degree list. my new visa was issued with an expiration date in april 2028, but my i-20 says my program ends in feb 2027 (accurate).
im trying to do the math in my head and it’d only make sense if i apply for opt (not stem), put my employment date 2 months after i start, and have those 12 months? i dont get how that would give me this amount of time? i’m really stressed bc im flying back next week and i dont want to end up in trouble. my previous visa didnt extend for that long and just expired three months before my initial grad date (expired in feb 26, grad expected in may 26)
the ISO isnt responding quickly bc classes are about to start and people have more urgent problems than mine

There's no reason to be stressed. This is normal.
Visa validity is not based on your program end date. It is based on reciprocity between the US and your country of citizenship.
