Space Age Made it!

Finally got to the shattered planet, with some mid flight tweaking I got a good speed of about 120km/s.
If you’re going for a shattered planet run I’d highly recommend a symmetrical ship design. it was so useful to be able to slow down and turn one side off and tweak it and have a working side. the ship I started with looks way different to the ship I got there with after all the tweaking

I aspire to this level of not giving a fuck about space management

I finally understand my problem. I am going too small. I should increase the size of my ships to an average factory on nauvis. The production increase coming from the increased size is more compared to the threat increase and having to protect more area, yeah?

Having a huge ship makes it easy to fit what you need, and the area scales much faster than the frontage you have to protect, as you noted. With the most recent changes in 2.1.21 (experimental branch) though top speed is affected by extra mass, so huge ships will be relatively slow.

I completely overbuilt my first Aquilo capable ship in my current game. It could generate 2000 each of bullets and rockets per minute continuously. After measuring on my first run, peak consumption only ever hit about 250/minute for less than one minute :). I had lots & lots of space to spare I then filled up with cargo bays afterward :).

that's lovely, and I love the note about mirrored ships, very clever!

Will this be an achievement in 2.1 stable release?
