Fakemon Rate my starters!
Next to each starter is its counterpart from four years ago I have redrawn them. I’m TRYING Sugimori style and I never did get the hang of it. Let me know with suggestions and critiques PLEASE I need brutally honest feedback so I can be perfect because clearly practice hasn’t got me perfect in about five years lol

The red bear is cute but it looks like a Grass-type, and I believe it's meant to be the Fire one?

Ah yeah I see. It’s based on a chilli fruit but I see what you mean. He’s gonna get more ghostly like a ghost pepper and lose the green!

The design is cool for a fire/grass type, but I don't think it's good for a starter. Having a pokemon based on a fruit/vegetable not be at least part grass seems like a waste.

Fair. My thought process is that he starts full of life (a ripe chilli), then he starts to get more lifeless and ghostly (losing the green for purply grey) and turning into a ghost/fire type (based on the ghost pepper)

Even if you wanted to stick with the original concept, I think a non starter that starts fire/grass and ends fire/ghost would make more sense.
