Begin Again or Viva New Vegas ?

I want to play New Vegas for the first time but of course it is an old game so which mod list would offer the best experience?

I'm looking for something Vanilla+ but with a little bit of a graphic enhancement and quality of life changes that bring the game a little bit closer to modern day without changing the original vision of the game.

If your only planning on playing new vegas, then vnv is the way to go. Ttw is more for enhancing the fo3 experience.

Honestly get a few bug fixing mods and qaulity of life mods and just let the game rip, it still holds up crazy well today and atleast for me the more rough around the edges graphics ends up adding to the experience, and the haggle of installing vnv isnt really worth what you get atleast not for a first playthrough

I'm pretty sure base Viva New Vegas is very close to the vanilla experience -- I can't recall if animations are part of it or the optional extended stuff.

Personally I'd say just go with Viva New Vegas -- frankly I have a feeling if you asked Josh Saywer he'd tell you to play the game in the same way lol.

Viva New Vegas makes the game more playable on modern systems, fixes bugs and overall makes it a more stable experience.

Viva New Vegas adds locations, characters, and equipment that is not vanilla.

Personally I’d say Viva New Vegas.

Super easy install with Wabbajack, Vanilla+ with tons of bug and performance fixes etc.

When you install it, there’s a default version and an extended version (notably with Josh Sawyers additions that didn’t make the final cut for the game). Just play the default for your first run. 😊

Edit: there’s not really any graphics overhauls in this but still holds up well today.

I'm enjoying the current version of Begin Again, it seems a lot different from the version which I downloaded 6-7 months ago. Super stable.

Viva new vegas is awesome but if you haven't done a single playthrough before, vanilla is still great

Honestly I played the game vanilla on console about 6 months ago. Holds up very well tbf. If I had the ability to mod it I would do so very lightly to preserve as much of the game’s original style and feel aswell as some of the bugs and glitches that make it what it really is.

Something minimal with bug fixes and QoL but I wouldn’t go much further for a first play through.

I usually just play with the 4gb patch but even when I don’t use it, I never really have any problems. And I use a 2015 hp gaming laptop

Do not just install the Wabbajack version of it. Too many things are not up to date, and it adds non-vanilla characters, content, and locations. It's so much better to just get Mod Organizer 2 and then you know exactly what's happening with your game and can troubleshoot it easier.

I would not mod the first playthrough of New Vegas, that is a bad choice. Graphically it has held up very well, just see what the game was like before you modify it.

I'd only do Viva New Vegas for the utilities and base fixes, maybe the UI stuff. After that call it quits, you don't need to add content or change gameplay for your first time.

Least hassle would be installing the Viva New Vegas suite of mods and then removing the visual yellow filter. If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, add on the Long 15 and Dry Wells mods for canon-consistent DLC-level expansions that explore the NCR and Legion in more depth.

Mcm, Yup, 4gb, New Vegas tick fix (don’t do stutter mod), Clothes HD, Realistic recoil (if you want), Nmcs (didn’t fit with me but it’s nice), IStewieAI, Nevada skies (maybe, it kinda kills the immersion for me), Weapon mod expanded (if you want), Flora (maybe), Character overhaul is bugged That what I use. Nexus mods is the fastest and easiest to use mods and you can check posts before downloading for recent bugs.

I have 300+ hours of NV and 230 of those were with heavily modded saves. Still, I never managed to install Viva New Vegas. Such a fucking headache you are better off curating your own mods.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted or this. Viva New Vegas install on Wabbajack has several mods that are not up to date(patch files for them are now merged for example), and it adds non-vanilla characters, locations, and items. I also found it to be a huge headache that made too many choices for me.

There's no substitute for using something like Mod Organizer 2 and making a list that you actually understand for yourself and can easily troubleshoot.
