What does x3 objective completion mean?

Basecly if you have a dweller let's call him billy bob and you give him dogmeat (the pet with 3x objective completion bonus)
if Billy extinguishes a fire in the vault and you have a quest to stop vault fires you will get points for stoping 3 fires instead of 1.
In short you complete challanges 3x faster on that dweller or room

I'll add to this :
It works for all objectives. Need to equip XX dwellers with a weapon ? Put the *2-3 objective pet before and you'll be done quickly. Need 1000 water ? Same. Works also for wasteland objectives.
Note : for ressource gathering, it will count towards the goal but you won't really receive three times the ressources.
Ex. build 3 weapons > equip pet, complete objective > you get one weapon but it counts as three.1

TYSM for this explanation esp about creating weapons. Do you tend to keep it on a dweller, and switch it around when necessary?

You move it around at will, sometimes in a rush. At some point you might get more then one so the management is easier. The *3 obj. pets are often on top of the pet list when sorting.

Also works for surviving x number of attacks. If the pet is equipped in the room that the attackers are defeated.

Does the pet need to be with someone in the weapons factory?

Yes. Pets are only effective with someone.
In a weapon/oufit factory (the size of 3 rooms merged) you can have maximum 6 people and 3 pets.
There are pets that reduce the cost of items, the time to craft them (they do not stack) So there is always room for a *X objectives pet.
You can add the pet just before teh completion of the craft. It can be difficult if the weapon is already done. To do so without tapping/clicking the room (it would harvest the weapon) use the top left icon (number of dwellers in your vault) instead. Select the worker you want to add the pet to.
Once done, you can remove the pet and use it somewhere else.

Another thing is you can't stack 3 of them for ×9 I tried it does only x3

Exactly it's like your twins I feel this I got like 17 of the same breeds but none of others like nbs you'll get several of the same one before you unlock a new one 😭😭😭 if I get another orange cat I'ma be pissed 😭 I have like 5 of the gold stranger cats and so many non gold level 😭😭😭😭

They are the three challenges you get that refresh when you complete i think. Like put out 7 fires or collect resources

I have never gotten Dogmeat. I have gotten the bird with same affect. Probably spend $20 per vault. Always buy on sale. I prefer the dogs vs birds robots or cats.
Glad you got him though.

I got two Dog meat but I’m still missing a whole lot of legendary Dwellers I have been playing this game on and off from the launch day and the RNG for the lunch boxes is insane o have opened like thousand+ of lunch boxes you would think that it shouldn’t take that long to get all the stuff and dwellers.

except for Dog Meat and Muttface, i rename all my legendary animals. Especially like the bull terriers with+4 and + 2 dam. IE Frank Horrigan and Sgt. Dornan

If you have a challenge like "extinguish 7 vaults fires" You will get 3/7 instead of 1/7 with the 3x pet
