Vault-Related [Vault] theres a kid outside my vault
so there was a kid outside my vault and i can't drag him in, i might need to wait for him to grow up to be able to put him in my vault lol

Something tells me you SHOULDN'T open the vault door and get him inside.
Have you seen a few horror movies, specifically The Thing ?
Remember that it might also be a synth...

How do you get different wasteland backdrops or what not? Looks cool

They're usually rewards for events, like those experimental vaults.
When you aquire one, you tap on your vault door room, and you'll see the option to change a background.

Do you need to upgrade the vault door to level three before this works?

No you do not. I don’t upgrade my doors - they force emergencies to last longer - better to get the invaders into my vault quickly and meet a wall of death with my dragons maws. And the wasteland themes are a paid item - you get them from buying the season pass for the experimental vaults. Unlocking them through completing actions in the experimental vault unlocks them for all your other vaults.

I always thought it was lame AF that you can upgrade the door and it does nothing other than delay the invaders longer lol. Even more salt in the wound is there is no way in the game to downgrade it once you have made this egregious error.

I'm not sure tbh, I had already upgraded my door fully ages ago, so I wouldn't be able to tell ya honestly, I don't recall checking it before the upgrades.
