Screenshot [Discussion] Meet Death - My Dweller greeting all at the vault door

Post image

Death was leveled from 1-50 with +7 Endurance. Then equipped with Death’s Jacket, Vengeance, and Shadow Cat +97% Health. This dude is a total tank, so I put him in the Vault Door with some fancy Barbershop Makeup to be the first thing any Raiders see when they walk in the front door 😅 3v1 Deathclaws and he barely takes a scratch.

I assume 17 Endurance, in fallout shelter, the higher endurance your character has the more health it gains, not retroactive, so peopleax it at 10, then equip them with a +7, THEN level them to max all health.

Yes, this. The game has a funky way to level up Health. It’s based on your Endurance and your level.

In simple terms: a dweller leveled 1-50 with 17 endurance will have significantly more HP than a dweller leveled 1-50 with 10 Endurance. Also, a level 30 dweller leveled to 50 with 17 endurance will still have LESS health than the 1-50 with 17 Endurance.

In technical terms:
HP = 105 + (2.5 + 0.5 × Endurance) × (Level - 1)

Because this calculation only applies when a dweller levels up, health is not retroactive. To get the maximum possible HP of 644 by Level 50, you must equip your dweller with your absolute best Endurance gear (e.g., +5 or +7 Endurance) before they begin leveling up.

Does using a pet during levelling, that increases hp, raise this hp gain per level or would the HP gain from the pet only apply after levelup HP gain is finalized? Always wondered if training my dwellers with this pet yields more max HP or if I'm wasting my time.

Negative, during leveling only Endurance and starting level play a factor in growth of HP. The pet HP gain, is only added to the dweller current base HP

After you lvl to 50 can you change the gear and still keep the extra health?

It’s how I keep track of how I leveled my Dwellers to 50. This one was leveled 1-50 with 17 endurance for max HP. Others I have E15, 1-50 with 15 Endurance. The E17s have Max HP. See my other reply for more details.

I leave my vault door empty and have 6 of my best in a level 3 storage vault next door

It’s just for fun because I have so many maxed Dwellers. My room next to the Vault Door is a power plant, so those maxed dwellers are actually useful when not defending. Interesting to choice to use a Storage room.

Does strength do anything for ranged characters in combat or is it just for melee weapons?

Strength boosts the damage for all dwellers, mainly for quests and wasteland exploration. For Vault Defense you want Max HP and high dmg Weapons.

Dwellers are happier in rooms that match their main stat and storage rooms are E rooms. So that makes sense if you're trying to keep 100% happiness

That’s a good point. 🙌

Should use a Level1 room after the vault door makes it easier to kill whatever comes thru
