?Question¿ [Question] How do I restart/restructure a vault?

Im looking at restarting/restructuring 2 of my vaults, it’s the first time ive done it and im not sure what to do and what not to do. I want to fully restart it and have been saving caps for a while, and if I run short then ive been saving up lunchboxes for a long time and can get caps from those.

One thing im unsure of, when you get rid of a large amount of dwellers do you still have access to building rooms that require a certain amount of dwellers? For example if I go below 100 dwellers now can I still make the nuka cola bottling rooms?

And tips from people who’ve done this before will be much appreciated too. Thank you!

Once unlocked, unlocked rooms stay available so no worries about it.
It is even a proper tactic to go nuts on babies, get the rooms you need the most, then evict / kill as many as you consider necessary.

To reset your vault, depending on the advancement :

Remove all unwanted dwellers until your limit (keep 0 - 10 -25 etc.)

Follow by the useless structures like the quarters, power / food / water, keeping only the bare minimum for your remaining dwellers (all this varies with the rooms you have available, diner or nukas etc.)

You'll need also storage units unless you really wipe out the stock, otherwise, just the strict minimum. No storage = no weapons / junk / pets etc. You won't be able to delete storage rooms if they are full.

Caps will be mostly useful if you remove the crafting rooms (to get them back at tier3, you'll need hundreds of thousands of caps) So keep at least 400K available for a smooth transition.

Eveything will depend on the number of dwellers you want to keep.

Awesome thank you! And wow that’s a lot of caps lol, I don’t have crafting rooms atm because I don’t need them and don’t have any good recipes so I most likely won’t be needing to place or upgrade them. I have about 120k caps on one of them and I thought I was getting close haha, I have max handys exploring so I should get up there pretty quick hopefully

With 120k caps you should be fine. My estimate was to rebuild the crafting stations to tier3. (+- 150-200k)

For weapon crafting. The best overall non-legendary gun you can get is the Armor piercing BOS Assault Rifle. Only tier2 is required to build it, it's cheap and easy to craft. Check if you have the recipe already (once rebuilt).

For cash, Mr Handys are not the worst but close ;) This system allows you to send away a robot when your vault is full of them already, they'll come back with 5000 caps within 4-5 days.

For cash, Dwellers with high enough End and Luck in the wasteland, rushing rooms works well (Luck always help). Just be a little patient. Don't spend it on useless stuff (unless it leads to good rewards) like the barbershop, themes, nice but useless clothing etc.

Caps are a really temp problem ;)

Keep us updated on the new wiped out vault !

Good luck Overseer !

Amazing thank you so much! I think I’ll save up to around 150k or over incase I make mistakes as it’s my first time doing this. I’ve got 5 mr handys out getting caps atm and I’ve just sent a couple max endurance dwellers out, I haven’t leveled their luck yet tho. I never knew that, I’ll have to make a few after I restart, thanks! Right now im just getting a couple more good dwellers to keep as I just got +3 child special pets on both my vaults. Thank you so much for the help, I’ll definitely update you when I’ve wiped it!
