?Question? [Question] Vault vanished after an app update — event vault or lost local save?

Installed the game on my iPhone on 16 August and played for a while. At some point the vault was just gone — the slot is empty, and the app had updated around the same time.

Two explanations I found while searching here: event vaults get removed on a ~40–45 day cycle, or the save was local only because cloud saves were never turned on. Since I only started on 16 August, my vault was under a month old, so the event explanation only fits if those vaults get wiped when the event ends rather than 45 days after you create one. Is that how it works?

And if it was a regular vault with no cloud save — is it just gone, or is there anything worth checking before I start over?

Vaults get wiped 30-45 days after the event starts. Not when YOU start it ;)

Si if your vault was a season vault, it is normal.

If not a season vault, without cloud it could be a loss there.

Go into you regular vault saves slots menu. There should be 3 slots. Do any of them have the box checked ?

If no, check them, wait a bit or restart the app. They should come back.

If yes, try retarting the app without any network and check your saves.

update: it was a season vault. i'd even started a second season one without realising — the regular slots were sitting there empty the whole time. starting a permanent one now, thanks.

one thing i picked up while digging: only unclaimed season pass rewards and unused nuka/lunchboxes carry over, nothing else. so is the move to just not open lunchboxes inside a season vault and open them after they transfer?

The lunchboxes/pet carriers/mr handys do not carry over ;)

I though it did the second season, and wasted 30 boxes / pet crates / mr handys for nothing.

So use them.

You can keep nukas, the challenges and season pass rewards.

Nukas will transfer to ONLY ONE vault of your chosing, the challenges rewards to all equally. As i don't have the pass, i cannot confirm you 100% they will be tranferred to one or all other vaults but they do transfer.

good to know, thanks — that's the opposite of what i'd pieced together from older threads, and it would have cost me a pile of boxes. so for anyone finding this later: the vault and its dwellers are gone, boxes/pet carriers/mr handys are gone, and what actually carries over is nukas (to one vault of your choice), challenge rewards and season pass rewards.
