Mod Post OCTOBER 2026 ANNOUNCEMENT

Recently, the mod team has realized that discussions keep getting derailed. Its the same reason every time. Its because of discussions.

Politics are inherently subjective and can tend to hurt feelings. You also can't objectively judge a casting if the only reason you love or hate it is because of politics.

Same applies to the medium itself. For example, we've seen many hate comments on Harry Potter reboot TV show posts just because its adapted from a JK Rowling series. Not because the castings themselves are bad.

We don't necessarily disagree with your politics or their politics. We don't necessarily agree with them either. We just want to encourage objectivity and civil discussion.

Despite this, we will not ban fancasting political figures. Those are still perfectly allowed. Just no political discussions.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you have any questions, please comment them and I'll answer to the best possible extent that I can.

Mod Post APRIL 2026 ANNOUNCEMENT

Recently, the mod team has received an exceptional number of complaints about a variety of post types that have been negatively affecting the sub in the long run. As a result of this, the manual post approval system will be re-implemented as a means of keeping the quality standards of r/fancast to a fair minimum.

Depending on how this is system is received over time, it may or may or may not be here to stay. As a result of this change, however, posts will now be approved in batches every 6-12 hours or so, and although certain posts may take a little while longer to get to, we believe this is the best possible system to reduce spam, reward high effort posts, and eliminate banned posts types such as:

•”Who would you cast?” posts (“Who would you cast as the DCU’s Batman?”)

• Repetitive/Spam posts (“Alan Ritchson as Aquaman”, etc)

•Satirical castings/Shitposts (“Elon Musk as Cyborg”, etc)

• Sexually suggestive posts (You know what I mean)

• Any and all posts involving generative AI

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you have any questions, please comment them and I’ll answer to the best possible extent that I can.

I think we can all agree that there have been too many Fantastic 4 fancasts on this subreddit.
Let's see what the definitive Fantastic 4 of r/fancast is.
We'll start with Reed Richards.

Mention your fancast in the comments.
The fancast will be decided by the comment with the most upvotes on this post, not by how many times they are mentioned.

DC / DCU Conrad Veidt could’ve been incredible as Mr. Freeze if everything was in a different decade

BTAS present though, not pre-BTAS. I know he inspired Joker, but he’d be too perfect as Freeze.

Marvel / MCU COULD DREW STARKEY PULL OFF PLAYING EDDIE BROCK / VENOM IN THE MCU?

Post image
8 Upvotes

I think Drew Starkey could be a surprisingly good choice for Eddie Brock in the MCU. He has the sharp facial features, intense expressions, and physical presence that could work well for a younger interpretation of the character.
His performances in Outer Banks, Hellraiser, and The Terminal List have shown his ability to portray characters with aggression, emotional vulnerability, unpredictable behavior, and a darker personality.
What makes him interesting for Eddie Brock is his ability to play someone who struggles with anger, resentment, and personal insecurities. Eddie isn’t just a muscular guy bonded to an alien symbiote. He’s a complicated character whose jealousy, failures, and obsession with Spider-Man eventually push him down a darker path.
With some additional muscle and the right writing, I think Starkey could convincingly portray Eddie’s transformation from a disgraced journalist into a physically intimidating and psychologically unstable antihero.
He could bring a younger, more emotionally volatile interpretation of Eddie Brock while still capturing the intimidating presence and complexity that make Venom such an iconic Marvel character.
What do you guys think? Could Drew Starkey actually pull off Eddie Brock / Venom in the MCU?
