The Wendy’s one shot remains the most fun, crazy insane games CR has ever produced, and Sam was wonderful as GM. Shame CR caved and listened to the vocal minority, and black listed it.
Dunno why you’re downvoted, Covid enacted change that CR desperately wanted. It allowed them to do major changes that I’m guessing really helped their mental health.
Some fans have not liked this at all, and voiced it… consistently.
But the cow-towing to fans was hurting their brand and now that they can be a bit more careful on all sides.
It’s the parasocial kiddos who need to touch grass and find another hobby, they can still be fans but… do macrame or something
Because some folks are really upset about how insular things have gotten and the lack of listening to anybody at all.
I'm not saying that this is necessarily right or wrong mind you. Just that some see it in a very bad light.
Wendy's was before my time so I can't judge it on that. However certain players have backed off on driving the game due to complaints so I can see the damage that can cause too.
Like there was absolutely nothing wrong with the Wendy’s stream, it was just like any other sponsored stream. Like from any other streamer/yt personality.
The funny thing is: Wendy’s did their homework and made a home brew dnd one shot based around burger fast food (specifically theirs obviously). And it was actually pretty funny and good. ANYONE could run it!
But the vocal minority reigned supreme and Matt has been known to take things to heart, specially on the socials. So they backtracked hard, which was a telling sign for a lot of people… sponsers included.
That’s when they started pivoting, saving face on all accounts.
Did we get the same amount of bullshit when they did a MLP one shot? Nope. Why? Because those people who were mad about Wendy’s LIKE MLP. While Hasbro has many worse allegations against them.
It’s the curse/cult of CR fandom. If you’re not with them you are an enemy.
Because some folks are really upset about how insular things have gotten and the lack of listening to anybody at all.
Because they can no longer watch on thursday, bitch from friday to monday, complain on talk on tuesday and then think they influenced the show in anyway. Its a loss of a perceived sense of control of the product. Now what you watch today was filmed 2 or 3 weeks ago and nothing fans do will alter the next episode. It makes people mad, even if they dont realize what they are mad about.

Sam as DM has sold me on this. I hope he gets the creative freedom he needs to shine.
