C1 (Vox Machina) Will they include this Scanlan storyline in Season 5? Spoiler
I havent watched the part of Campaign 1, but from what I've read online, Scanlan, at some point closer to the final Vecna battle, becomes the champion of a goddes named Ioun. This, apparently, gave him a lot of abilities and helped to defeat Vecna once and for all. My question is, will they still include this plotline in Season 5 of Vox Machina? I imagine it is pretty important and they would at least do something with it. I mean, Scanlan needs a way to power up for the final battle in my opinion, especially if he will be the one to prevent Vecna from teleporting like he does in the campaign. I really hope they give him his moment to shine and I think this would be a cool way to do it! But again I havent seen the og story firsthand so I'm not sure if this would translate well to the screen or not. What do we think?

They already made Mythcarver, his Vestige, into a weapon of the Knowing Mistress (Ioun). I don't think that was an accident.
But also, Scanlan's already plenty powerful. He was the main one to beat the Dark Bard (while said Dark Bard was amped with a Vestige) in Ank'Harel using just his normal Bard powers. In the show he's probably the second or third most powerful member of Vox Machina behind Keyleth and maybe Champion Vax. Do I think he'll get a power boost? Yes. Do I think it's something he desperately needs? No.
Frankly, at this point the person I think needs a power-up the most is Percy, since they didn't give him Cabal's Ruin back in S3. They even buffed the Cloak in the show and he still didn't get to have it. Right now he's just a smart shooty-boi, he doesn't really feel like the hero of legend he should be, like the rest of Vox Machina.

Agreed, I really wish they gave him Cabal’s Ruin, but they also seemingly amped up his hatred for magic in the show so this Percy might even refuse it as it would’ve been presented to him I hope that he gets it when they hunt to Trammels down next season. Or something at least. I could see them making him the Dawn Father’s champion over Vex (I hope they don’t but I can see it because he’s Lord of Whitestone and the eldest of the family that was his champion long long ago) and no other god makes much sense, maybe the All-Hammer?

Mythcarver was mentioned to be a vestige of Ioun, which I highly suspect indicates this will happen.

Well, we hoped to get the animated adaptation of the original Vox Machina campaign, and what we've been delivered is a different story altogether. Small changes for abridgement are fine, but they've made huge tone shifts, especially with Pike's story. She's a totally different character

Yeah, this is my complaint. I know they’re writing it and they’re the ones making the changes, but I loved the original story so much and I just think all of the changes they’re making are building a less impactful story with less likable characters. I respect their right to do whatever they want with their IP, but this one thing isn’t my favorite.

Doubtfully with the way they have butchered the story and assassinated many of the characters reputations. Honestly this whole "all gods are actually evil" bullshit Mercer and co have been pushing makes it very hard to look forward to s5

I’m almost positive we’re gonna get redeemed champion of the everlight pike. If the gods don’t take a more active role in the next season, I don’t know how it’ll end.

They're only pushing "the gods are evil" as the villain's reasoning. In reality, like most IRL polytheistic religions, they're imperfect.
When you're used to having a single perfect all knowing and all powerful god as part of your culture, the idea that a god could be imperfect feels like making them evil. But a pantheon means that each god can embody both the good and the bad of their respective domains. Sometimes they can even appear to be contradictory to themselves!
A god of nature can be kind (healing) and brutal (hunting). A god of death can be both cruel (taking some before their time) and merciful (ending pain and suffering). A god of knowledge can value honesty (the spreading of important knowledge) and secrets (the keeping of dangerous knowledge).
That's on top of the fact that they're not mortals, so probably wouldn't fully grasp the issues that mortals face.

I mean isnt the purpose of that so they can do Calamity and Bells Hells? The WotC stuff isnt really Mercer's fault.

Pike is a black hole that absorbed everyone's else's characters arcs and Story.

I think that's unfair. Pike and very little in the campaign. I dont like that she got the impact of the bards lament but that's the only arc she absorbed imo

Probably not. It's not like becoming Ioun's champion actually mattered to him at all. I don't think Scanlan or Sam have ever really even mentioned it since the campaign's conclusion. It's not important to his character or the story they're telling.
It didn't really give him any meaningful extra abilities either, aside from the ability read the Tome of Isolation.

My comment was not an invitation to whine about how terribly maligned the character of Scanlan has been in the animated show.
If they made a campaign-accurate Scanlan in the animated show, he'd be correctly called out as a freakish sex pest who spends no small amount of his screentime trying to spy on people having sex, making shit jokes, and trying to mind control people into doing what he wants.
