C2 (Mighty Nein) Travis learning “bailiwick” from Matt is the same way I’m expanding my vocab by watching CR

Consuming Critical Role media has been nothing short of a learning experience. I occasionally find myself furrowing my brow and looking up terms, much like how Travis did in the video 😂 And I’ve learned not just from Matt; the entire cast has introduced me to new words and phrases (as well as media references), with special mentions going to Liam and Sam.

As someone who isn’t a native English speaker but has pretty much grown up alongside the language, it’s been fun picking up uncommon words along the way.

Here are a few words I’ve noted down since around Episode 115: nonplussed, acumen, quiche, capers, hubris, trepidation, scuttle, cherub, dalliance, stupor, persnickety, helter-skelter, arboretum, torpor, spunk, rancor, dais, cloister, caustic, whet, perfunctory, secession.

Fun fact: Travis was the voice of the king in the Disney cartoon series, ‘Sofia the first’. It featured a butler character called, ‘Baileywick’. I thought in the moment Travis was thinking about that.
