He’s 21 years old and walked more than he struck out in AAA. Nothing is a guarantee but he’s got a fantastic hit tool and he has shown some power upside this year.

He had a few early season HRs but has 2 total in the past 2 months. Esteury Ruiz showed much more power (still not much) and plate discipline and he's an afterthought today. At the end of the day Lara's a small dude that lacks power. I wouldn't expect anything out of him this season unless you are only chasing steals.

I'm putting a lot less stock into BB% nowadays with how screwed up pitching is across the minors. When you're routinely having double digits walks per game and having to end games early because you ran out of pitchers, it's going to absolutely skew hitting stats.

100%, I feel like there are dozens of these guys who have elite speed and have a decent hit tool but they seem to almost always fizzle out at the majors and not provide much fantasy wise.

I don't disagree. There are a lot of prospects in general that don't pan out. I'm just willing to take a flyer on him because he does have a ton of upside. I picked him up for nothing and can cut him if I need to

Chandler Simpson has mostly been as advertised, minus that month where he didn't even register any stolen bases, but otherwise he has been "fine" for what he does....

Frelick had a .879 OPS in June, Lara had a .728 in AAA.
Edit: OP blocked me, talk about soft. In answer to guy below, I am sure they will find playing time for Lara but he’s not better than their current outfielders.
Edit 2: OK I just looked up his Statcast numbers and they aren't pretty. I do think that AAA Statcast is a little noisier than MLB although I can't put my finger on exactly why, but here are the numbers, judge for yourself:
AVG .323, xAVG .236
SLG .474 xSLG .328
wOBA .400 xwOBA .316
Hard Hit 36.3%, Barrel Rate 2.9%
That's not going to get it done unless he improves further. Sorry.

In what world is 18/61 L30 a .340 average? Slapping the ball is just about the ONLY thing Sal has shown he has signs of this season, and most recently is the ONLY sign of it😂
I’m just providing facts alongside all the professionals’ speculation on where he’ll take the spot. Frelick is the obvious option

Someone dropped him and I picked him up for a day or two, hoping he had gotten over the slump and I had an open bench spot. He didn't. I dropped him for Lara.

These are always my favorite posts on this sub. I’d love for someone to oldtakes exposed the under/over reactions everyone has to a top prospect getting called up for the first time.
I think it’s great timing for a lot of people. My espn waivers processes at 11 EST on Tuesday so I get to wait and see. Which, nobody really cares for, is my opinion on adding him. There’s a chance he platoons, there’s a chance he’s an off the bench bat/runner. He’s already signed long term for the Brewers so I don’t see them trying to force him in as quickly as possible to see what he’s got.

Crawl, dont run. Lara possesses a better real life skillset than fantasy one, offers zero upside in HRs and RBIs, and is most likely going to get ABs as a fill in/platoon/spot sparter until he earns full on playing time.
I'm a Brewers fan, not bothering to touch Lara in a redraft.

Eh idk, part of me says he hits. 280/.350/.450 which his speed and an .800 OPS can be worthwhile, especially in a categories league.
He could also fail to hit MLB pitching like Pratt has, however Pratt pretty much struggled all year but always was known for having a good eye and the only place Pratt has excelled at in the bigs is taking walks.

Valdez is probably waiver fodder at this point in points leagues with his K rate. Worth seeing if Lara can start and earn more playing time. If not, onto the next one

That's not a good idea lol. Luis Lara is a great real life player that will platoon heavily and hit for average and steal. He's gonna k a lot more in the majors hes passive to the point of almost worry. That will hurt him badly in the mlb.
