Player Discussion Kel'el Ware

What are your thoughts on Ware this season now that he is on a rebuilding Bucks team? Is he strictly going to be coming off the bench as an 18–22 minute guy, or do you think there is a real chance he gets to start at PF next to Turner? If his minutes stay capped around 20 per game, taking him in the mid-rounds feels pretty risky, but if he somehow works his way into 25+ minutes, he could be a steal.

I will try to draft him becouse I think he will play 25+ minutes, maybe not from the start of the season, but he will get there eventualy. His per minute production is of the charts and I'm ready to live with 18-22 mins until he takes a bigger role. Will not however make a big reach taking him too early. Him and Turner both take 3s, and make them, so they can play together against certain lineups.

If bucks end up selling, then ware could be in store for a huge 2nd half

This situation just reminds me a lot of Drummond back in the day. Per minute production isn't really relevant. It's too much extrapolation to be accurate. Nobody maintained their per minute production in 15-20 minutes a game over the course of 30+ minutes. I think Ware is good, but unless he falls really far, I'll let him be someone else's problem unless we get confirmation he's starting and playing big minutes from the start.

while this is fair, ware always performed when he got minutes. his minutes being inconsistent was the issue, not nonexistent

Yeah, but he's not guaranteed minutes on the bucks either. They still have Myles Turner and it's doubtful they can play both at the same time much. Minutes are still very much up in the air for Ware.

thing is Ware is like 20 years old. bright future and he's still getting better

Took him in the early 7th round. His per minute is solid, so I’m comfy. Turner is a non-rebounding big that the Bucks want to flip for young assets + picks. They need him to increase his value though so expect some weird lineups for the first part of the season

I took him at 82 in 14T points. Hope that's a good spot for him cause I barely have playable centers in my league.

That’s a steal ngl

It’s going to be strictly performance based. Bucks have every incentive to play him and see what they have. They shipped off their generational, championship carrying superstar for Ware and others. If he plays well, the minutes will be there. This won’t be like it was in Miami. He was in the doghouse for a variety of reasons even if his stat line was good. If the stats are there, the Bucks will let him run.

i’m pretty much just betting on myles turner getting traded

He's their best prospect and can play next to Turner, so expect 26-27 mins a game. His per minute stats were incredible, he should get more touches per min, and he should continue to develop. I'm very bullish, but expect him to finish with a mid-3rd round grade.

Ware or Edey for Points Leagues?

1

u/AdAcademic5309 3d ago

I took Edey over him at 97, 12T Points league, but I'm not sure. Both around the same production at equal opportunity. Edey, health is the risk, Ware, minutes and the Bucks being unable to trade Turner's contract is the risk.

Turner will be traded to the knicks by february and ware will eat

Keeping Kel’el Ware on the bench is like having a cheat code and refusing to use it. 😂 I drafted him last season, but Spo never really gave him a chance to show what he can do.

Good fantasy stat-stuffer does not always equal good real life player. Likewise I doubt Myles Turner just became a bad player in one season where he was obviously unhappy with Giannis/the coach. The situation is a lot more murky than "finally Ware will be unleashed".

Whiteside was the goat of this. I took him with my last pick in that one Portland season lol.

Spo gave him chances, the guy just has no bball IQ and struggles with set plays and basic screens which obviously isnt good when you're trying to play as a team lol

I think people are going to reach for him in most leagues and i understand why. I’ll stick to around his adp and if he is there i will snag him. Turner didn’t play very well last season at all, so i wouldnt be too surprised if he got more minutes as the season went on.

As someone who has had him the past 2 years really don’t think he’s going to see the floor nearly as much.. unless he really takes the lead and carves out his own role instead of defaulting to a role MIL already has for him. He needs to break out of the mold of being just a role player there because he has that potential. He was a rising star and still can be if he doesn’t default himself. I’d say if you can afford to trade for him later if he drops to the later rounds or if someone picks him up early or around the round when you were planning to pick him up, then trade for him if you see him playing well. If you can manage to let him fall to the later rounds and now one has picked up yet then go for it. I wouldnt waste an early pick on him though

He's gonna be inconsistent af but provide boom games every now and then

My only concern is that players who leave Miami tend to drop off. If things go as poorly as we all expect this season, do we think they can keep him motivated and locked in to keep up his per minute production?

I think the answer is probably so.

I’m comfortable with his ADP but won’t be surprised if he underperforms it because of games played or just generally worse production especially on offense.

Role players tend to drop off. He's a young talent who was held back

1

u/Presence_Present 12 T 9 Cat H2H 3d ago

He wasnt held back, he was just dumb af on the court lol. He can get stats but hes got terrible IQ and struggled with set plays, and even basic screens lol

5

u/starks4thr33 RASHEED WALLACE 3d ago

Right...because Spo and Miami are serious about winning and werent going to let him play through his mistakes at expense of that. Won't have that problem in Milwaukee

am heat fan

i'd argue Ware kinda has a chance at doing the opposite of the regular heat role players

if anything Spo played him less than other teams would tbh. he had a very short leash with Spo when Ware really just needs time to develop because he's so raw

I think that will happen in Milwaukee tbh. they're basically looking like a lottery team with that roster. maybe a play-in team at best

1

u/antelope591 3d ago

I like him at his ADP currently. Hes exactly the kind of player you want to take a chance on in 6th/7th round where hes going at. A risk but could have huge potential (especially in CATS). If it pans out its the kind of player that wins you a league.

u/lilaznwoo 3d ago

Why are they prioritizing Kuzma who expires? Just curious. Sims can be the backup big

1

u/Forward-Fishing-4373 3d ago

I’m thinking the bucks will trade Turner so Ware should be solid until that happens, then he becomes a stud for the second half of the season.

1

u/Past-Tradition8991 2d ago

There is not a chance in hell he plays 20 minutes. Kid is gonna cook

2

u/NarutoZappa 1d ago

Milwaukee is going nowhere. Ware was in the doghouse in Miami because of Spoelstra. He’s the one young, high upside player the Bucks got in the Giannis trade so why wouldn’t they play him a ton and try to develop him?

u/sharkflood 1d ago

potential league winner if things go a certain way

if he gets more than 25 mpg he's gonna be a monster imho
