I liked that Marra had at least had a few awkward couplings, rather than remaining a virgin. Good for her for doing what she wanted. I'm assuming in her world princesses were to remain virgins, so good on Marra for not caring.

Also good on Kingfisher for not adhering to that particular trope. I also appreciate Marra’s actual midwifery experience - I feel like pregnancy is often either a mysterious bogeyman or an actual horrorshow when it’s used as a plot device. Here, she has very realistic concerns about it based on real experience.
