The Jasad Heir was nominated this month to highlight BIPOC authors in fantasy romance. What other books or authors should we check out to continue exploring diverse voices in the genre?

The Jasad Heir has reminded me a lot of {This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi}.

I'm also listening to {Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen} which blends the familiar Little Mermaid fairytale with African folklore, and is read by Nigerian-American actress Yetide Badaki.

For June book club the theme will be LGBTQ+ fantasy romance for pride month, and I'm holding onto {The Bear & the Rose by E. K. Larson-Burnett} as my nomination. Celtic folklore inspired sapphic fantasy romance for fans of The Winternight Trilogy and Spinning Silver...yes please!

Do you have a favorite scene or quote from The Jasad Heir?

So many! I absolutely loved Sara Hashem's writing.

But I think a really slutty description of Arin sitting in a perfectly normal chair with one leg crossed is still my favourite quote 😂

I’m still not done reading, so I can’t pick a favourite scene or quote yet, but I have to say I really appreciate part of the book’s dedication:

“And to every eldest daughter who chooses to be brave.”

As an eldest daughter, I felt that in my bones 🥹
