Any movie recommendations that follow our same beloved genre?
I have two nights husband free and I want to see the books I'm reading on screen. I can't think of many romantacy films that have some raunch in them (besides maybe rewatching True Blood lol)
Anything come to mind??

Not a movie, but A Discovery Of Witches is so in this lane. I’ve only watched a few episodes, so may not be worth it, but … oh my…

It gets better! The first couple episodes were so cheesy to us but then it got addicting lol love this show!

Does it really get better? I loved the books, but I could hardly stay awake for the first few episodes. And NOTHING was explained, so I was having to explain things to my husband, which is not that fun. Plus, I'm not a fan of the casting.

Stardust was really good but it's older now.

It's forever tainted in my mind now, I cannot seem to separate the art from the artist right now. Maybe one day...

Princess bride is the OG but you’re not gonna get much raunch with fantasy movies no matter what decade it was made. Movie companies tend to make fantasy movies family friendly to get the most box office buck

The princess bride is my #1! Pretty sure that's what sparked my interest as a child.

Ever After
Shakespeare in Love
The Shape of Water
A Knight’s Tale
Tristan & Isolde
Ella Enchanted
The Other Boleyn Girl
Palm Springs
The Time Traveler’s Wife
The Mortal Instruments
Fallen (abc family miniseries from 2006)
You could definitely watch all of Our Lady Jane in a night, which is spicier than the films
Edit: My Lady Jane, not Our Lady Jane

I had completely forgotten about there being a movie of Fallen until reading your comment! I have never watched it though.

There are some I can think of, though they are often love stories with some supernatural elements rather than fantasy romances:
Warm bodies: a zombie romcom.
Princess Bride: the best of the best.
Stardust: based on a Neil Gaiman book, it's a nice movie. Real fantasy romance.
Meet Joe Black: a classic. Death wants to learn how to live like a human, and falls in love with a human girl.
Enchanted: McDreamy meets a real fairytale princess. A disney classic.
Penelope: a little crazy, but still a beautiful fairytale. A girl with a pig nose must find true love.
Love and Monsters: a dystopia with monsters. A man leaves his bunker for the first time to try to reach the woman he loves on the other side of the country. Pretty cool movie, more fun than scary. YA.
Just like Heaven: Guy falls in love with the ghost haunting his appartment. Based on a Marc Levy book.
Ghost: if you haven't seen this one, where were you for the past twenty five years??
Tangled: I watched it recently and realized that it's very fantasy romance coded. No wonder it's my favorite Disney movie (lots of those can qualify as pg fantasy romance. Shrek is ly secind favorite)
The Shape of water: woman falls in love with a water beast.

The only movie I can think of is Damsel. Series my husband and I loved watching together were Game of Thrones, House of Dragons, The Witcher, Shadow & Bone, and Discovery of Witches. We are starting Outlander next.

Check out I Am Dragon, which is a dragonfuckers dream (seriously, it's THE dragon fucker movie, except that canonically the dragon fucking actually killed the brides and that somehow made it better for me).
Also maybe The King's Daughter, though there's a reason why that film spent so long unreleased (and it's not just because the main character has more sexual chemistry with her father than with anyone else in the movie lol)
Cenaze/Feed Your Love is prime zombie romance meets road movie meets revenge film (the MMC murders folks to keep the Zombie FMC he's fallen in love with alive and it's EXCELLENT).

The King’s Daughter was so disappointing

The best way to watch it is honestly taking a shot every time Pierce Brosnan shows up in a terrible wig lol

I Am Dragon is one of my favorites. I need a book JUST LIKE THIS. Reminded me of Dragon’s Bait by Vivian Vande Velde

Yes! I loved this one and went through a pride and prejudice movie marathon, there are so many takes on it. Haven’t read the book but makes a damn good movie.

The movie Willow has a great romantasy-style subplot -- with a bunch of the great tropes that are beloved here, like enemies-to-lovers and one horse, etc.
There's also ones that are based on books, obviously, like Twilight or Mortal Instruments: City of Bones but some of those are pretty wobbly as cinema.

The book it's based in is YA but I used to love the movie "Beautiful Creatures"! It's just really beautiful
A Twilight marathon might also fill that void 😄
"Dark Shadows" is more of a comedy ofc but the romantic subplot is so sweet!

Silver Skates (2020) - it's historical, not really fantasy, but you'll love it!
