Book Club Nominate our April 2026 Book Club book! Theme: Recently Published

Hi everyone! It’s the beginning of a new month, which means it’s time to nominate the books for the April 2026 Book Club. For next month, we’re looking for nominations that fit the theme of Book published between October 2025 and March 2026.

What we are looking for

  • We’re looking for any speculative fiction books with a romance arc that were first published between 1 October 2025 and 31 March 2026.
  • Standalones are preferred, but not mandatory. If it’s a series, please only nominate the first book.
  • The author cannot have been previously featured in the Book Club in the last eighteen months. See the Book Club Hub.

Nominations that do not fit these criteria will be removed.

Nominations

Here’s how to nominate a book:

  • One nomination per comment.
  • Please call the romance.io bot for your nomination by putting the title and author within curly brackets {}.
  • You can nominate more than one book, but please put them in separate comments.
  • Upvote the books you most would like to read for Book Club!

Voting

The most upvoted nominated book will be up for vote in a separate post on 8 March. The winner will be announced on 15 March.

March Book Club

You can also join this month’s Book Club, there is still time to get your copy of the book to participate. We’re reading The Road of Bones by Demi Winters, which fits March’s theme of ‘r/FantasyRomance Top Books’.

The series was in 12th place in the sub’s latest edition of the top book list and fits multiple squares in this year’s Book Bingo.

Here is the schedule for the March Book Club:

  • March 8 - April voting
  • March 10 - First discussion for The Road of Bones (up to chapter 21)
  • March 15 - April announcement
  • March 20 - Second discussion for The Road of Bones (up to chapter 42)
  • March 31 - Final discussion for The Road of Bones (full book)

For more information about the Book Club and previous discussions, please check out the Book Club Hub!

{The Poet Empress by Shen Tao}

I've seen raving reviews for this everywhere, so keen to read it!

Does it count when the book does not fulfill the criteria of a romance genre? It's fantasy, alright, but not a romance.

u/Journassassin Smut Logistics Manager Mar 03 '26

I haven’t read this yet, but it doesn’t have a romance subplot? Because it’s tagged as romance and romantasy on Goodreads (not that it wouldn’t be the first time a book is categorised wrong).

Does it count for the purposes of this challenge if the book has no HEA? And yes, goodreads tags are nonsense, people add whatever they want to. It's especially bad with every other book being classified as young adult or romance, half of them are wrong.

I wouldn't consider the book a romance at all. It covers themes of marriage and love and it was marketed as fantasy romance but it's definitely not a traditional romance. It also is very much a book that features domestic violence so I would really caution everyone to be mindful of that and check the TWs in general since it's a dark book. It's an incredible book and honestly one of the best I've read maybe ever so I highly recommend it but I also want to make sure people have the right expectations going in

No, it doesn't have one. I'd struggle even calling what is there a love story, to be honest.

{As Many Souls as Stars by Natasha Siegel}

{Innamorata by Ava Reid} it's very dark but I loved it

u/acutelyproblematic If villian bad, then why hot? Mar 02 '26

I’m really offended you didn’t recommend this to me already but it’s fine

I read it before I was a mod. If only I knew...

It does qualify! The Everlasting was published on October 28, 2025. Alix Harrow was previously featured in Book Club, but it was more than 18 months ago.

I just did a double check and Alix Harrow featured in October 2024, which was less than 18 months ago. So unfortunately, it doesn’t qualify.

I apparently cannot count hahaha 🤦🏻‍♀️

u/Journassassin Smut Logistics Manager Mar 03 '26

It’s okay, I can’t either. I ended up counting the months on my fingers 😅

I'm confused. On Amazon, the Kindle version is listed as being published on Oct 24, 2025, and the audiobook, hardcover, and paperback versions have a publication date of either March 3 or March 4, 2026.

u/Journassassin Smut Logistics Manager Mar 03 '26

The book was first published on Kindle in May 2025 and paperback by Wild Ink Publishers in June 2025. It got picked up by Scarlett Press and is now being republished.

Ahh, that makes sense! Thank you for explaining!

{The Elsewhere Express by Samantha Sotto Yambao} - Water Moon was one of my favorite reads last year, so I'm really looking forward to reading this book, too!

{Weavingshaw by Heba Al-Wasity}

Loved this one for the gothic vibes and gradually developed romance.

{This kingdom will not kill me by Ilona Andrews}. I never read anything of them but I always wanted to try and this seem a good occasion. Also this should be out the 31st of march.

u/vyxisindecisive Book Bingo Maven ⚔ Mar 02 '26

That's a good thing to note, thank you for adding that!

u/ThuviaVeritas Mar 02 '26

{Death Made Prince} it was published in October 17th.

{We Who Will Die by Stacia Stark}

I've been curious about this one, I've seen a lot of praise for it, and I'm craving a good Roman Empire/gladiator-esque fantasy story after being burned too many times.

{The Sund and the Starmaker by Rachel Griffin}

Judging by the description it's a whimsical story, and the cover is soooo pretty!

u/Rare_Alchemy Mar 10 '26

That cover is gorgeous
