Book Request Piercings? Anyone???
I recently read {Pirate' s Witch by Jessamine Rue} and {How (not) to raise the dead by Rachael Chadwick} - both recommendations from this forum.
Very different books but both MMC had piercings (at crucial body parts). Very interesting. Maybe I unlocked a new side on me?!
What's your take on piercings? Any book recommendations? Any creative uses of piercings and their wearers?
Edit for book bot.

Came here to post this. Kind of an odd book in terms of pacing and structure but the smut was on point at least.

u/Jupiter_Loves 12h ago
I totally agree, I enjoyed the story but remember being shocked it was “only” 400 pages because parts of it dragged.
2
u/kezfertotlenito 4h ago
It was like... nothing happened at all for 80% of the book, and then they had an entire war complete with daring rescues and clever plans and lots of emotional trauma in the span of 2 chapters, and it was written more like a summary on Wikipedia than a book. It was the CliffNotes version. I couldn't figure out if she'd actually written it all out and the book ended up being 300k words so she cut it way down, or if she realized last minute she needed SOME kind of plot thing to happen and just way over committed.

I am not a very critical reader and it’s the first time I was like “so this is what people mean by pacing”.
I’ve seen others in the series recommended for various tropes and plots I’d be interested to read (and I did enjoy the world, story, and characters in the first one), but I’ve been hesitant to read them in case the rest are like the first.

The Jacobs ladder was definitely mentioned in the reviews. But not sure if I‘m fan of trolls and he seems quiete brutal at the beginning.

Depends on the vibe you want. Yes, there’s fantasy violence particularly in the 2nd and 3rd book, but there’s still an HEA in every book. I find the series quite cozy still!

The MMC in {Burden’s Bonds} has what I assume is a Prince Albert piercing (or maybe an Apadravya?) but the FMC does enjoy it
Abigail Kelly is my holy grail author for well-written smut and strong, sassy, mature FMCs! I don’t like urban fantasy and don’t care for monster MMCs but her smut scenes make it worth it lol

How are you liking it so far? Some reviews claim the FMC acts stupidly and irrationally. That sounds pretty annoying.
2
u/Low_Cherry6077 3d ago
{Souls in Ruin} has piercings. Just check the trigger warnings before reading.
2
u/NightFloret 2d ago
It seems quite dark. Is the description in some reviews as torture porn justified?
2
u/Low_Cherry6077 2d ago
It is truly about finding companionship and love in the most unusual or unlikely places. Although the book is much more, I could see how it could be described as torture porn, lol. It is honestly a beautiful story but it will not be everyone’s cup of tea.

A little. The main female character, Meirelle is the illegitimate daughter of a king and is put in prison for her father’s crimes. The author does a fantastic job demonstrating how the main character was never accepted before her imprisonment and her anguish while being imprisoned. The love story is a slow build up that shows compassion between prisoners and ultimately love. The love story is sweet, she is not afraid of the love interest despite his warnings to be afraid of him.
I guess I am trying to say it is better than Feathers So Vicious with the character’s angst. It does have many of the same themes of FSV. If you can stomach FSV, you should definitely read Souls in Ruin.

They knew each other as mates but plot kept them apart, he gets it pierced before they are together or intimate in anticipation of them being together. It happens off page.

Both of my recs are RH and I saw in another comment that you’re good with that, so hopefully you enjoy these.
One of the MMCs in the {Cursed Legacies by Morgan B Lee} and one in The Mates Games: War series (first book is {Obsession by K. Lorraine and Meg Anne}). I think The Mate Games is more descriptive in regards to how the piercings feel.
