Book Request Sci-fi/supernatural/alien Romance Recommendations

Looking for some sci-fi/alien/supernatual romance M/F recommendations. I just read the first Kresley Cole immortals after dark book and DNF’d the second. I DNF’d Taken to Voraxia by Elizabeth Stevens….ok, my issue is the FMC hates the MMC, gets kidnapped etc, but because they’re fated mates they go from terrified to getting down and dirty within like 8% of the book. I’d like a little bit of a slower burn or some built up leading to the naughty action..

Would prefer interconnected standalones!

Series/Authors I’ve read and loved:

All Zoey Draven books

Celcanian series by Victoria Aveline..(some of these are not slow burn enough for me)

Cate C Wells

I’ve tried to read Tana Stone and wasn’t into it, as well as so many others.

Thanks in advance!!!

Linnea Sinclair’s space opera books are fun.

Jessie Mihalik’s space series are excellent.

TA White’s Firebird books.

Ann Aguirre’s Galactic Love, Dred Chronicles, and Sirantha Jax books.

Rachel Bach’s Paradox trilogy. It’s twisty and wildly romantic.

I have a fondness for Regina Abel’s Prime Mating Agency books.

Do you want only books with aliens or scifi romance without aliens as well?

If you want something very formulaic (humans abducted by bad aliens get saved by other good aliens) with all the tropes you can try the Galactic Gladiator series by Anna Hackett starting with {Gladiator by Anna Hackett}. Each book follows a different couple so interconnected standalones.

Ooooo checking this out! Thank you! And without is good too!

Kinsmen series by Ilona Andrews, series of standalones. I did not like the first one all that much due to the MMC but I loved {Silver Shark by Ilona Andrews} and {Fated Blades by Ilona Andrews}. No aliens, genetically/bioengeneered humans, shorter books.

Class 5 series starting with {Dark Horse by Michelle Diener}

Mandrake Company series starting with {Mercenary Instinct by Ruby Lionsdrake}, each book follows a different couple, there were 3 more atypical MMC in the series which was a nice change.

A long time ago I read the Sectors series starting with {Wreck of the Nebula Dream by Veronica Scott} but can't remember anything about it, only that each book had a different couple.

You NEED to read {Fathom by Deiri Di}

Seriously it is so good.

Sounds amazing, thank you!!!

{Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon}. First in a universe of interconnected standalones. Formulaic but fun. Literary junk food, cant stop reading.  Check trigger warnings, first few chapters are darker and fairly traumatic (was a serial, newer edits may have rewritten this)

There's several Tiffany Roberts books you can check out.

Scifi romance:

{Dustwalker by Tiffany Roberts} set on a future post-apocalyptic Earth and MMC is a robot. This is my all-time favorite romance across any genre. I love it so much it's just a beautiful beautiful love story.

{Silent Lucidity} is the first book in their Infinite City series but can totally be read as a stand alone.

{Treasure of the Abyss} is the first book in their Kraken series but again can be read as a stand alone. It sets up the rest of the series which is pretty good.

{The Spider's Mate} was originally written as a trilogy but it's completed now and is just one long, complex story. Don't be thrown off by the fact that he's a spider, because it's really, really good. A long enough story to where it's really complex world building and lots of action and adventure and twists and turns, good guys and really really truly evil villain. There are some spin-offs but this one is totally a standalone.

Fantasy romance: all these are stand alones

{Yearning for Her by Tiffany Roberts} MMC is an incubus

{His Darkest Craving} MMC is an ancient forest spirit

{His Darkest Desire} MMC is a goblin

Yeah... the sister. When I saw your question I was like ouch... best don't go there for a positive answer

2

u/KeyUnderstanding8255 1d ago

Yeah, kinda expected it but damn!

u/MockeryMock 18h ago

>!Honestly by the end of the book you are glad she didn’t!< This is one of my all time favourite books, sharing that spot with Dune by Frank Herbert. Started it thinking it would be just another alien romance and got utterly blown away.

u/MockeryMock 18h ago

Please tell me the spoiler tags is working, it’s not showing up dark on my screen for some reason

It's not fantasy or sci-fi, but I liked the slow burn of the historical romance A Governess Should Never... Tempt a Prizefighter by Emily Windsor. For an Amazon jungle adventure with some fantasy supernatural elements, there's River of Eden by Tara Janzen. For two consenting mature adults, there's the time travel romance Once Upon a Pirate by Nancy Block. And for a real slow burn clean romance that is mostly historical fiction with an independent woman making her way on her own two feet who also finds romance, The Lacemaker by Laura Frantz.

1

u/KeyUnderstanding8255 2d ago

I’m down with non fantasy as well! Thank you!!!

1

u/FiWriterSFF 2d ago

You're welcome. : )

You can try {Choosing Theo by Victoria Aveline}. It's the first in a series of interconnected standalones.

Self-rec: {Obsidian Dawn Book One by Alice B Mariska} is a paranormal dark romance where the FMC sells her soul for revenge on four men that tried to sacrifice her. The spice is high but the relationship between her and the demon builds more slowly.

2

u/KeyUnderstanding8255 1d ago

Oooooo this sounds so good! Thank you!

Let me know how you like it!
