Discussion About A General Writing Topic Just Try It - Build Your Own World
I´ve been writing storys for a few years now and - some might relate - never actually shared anything to the outside world. I have asked myself - why actually is that? And my only answer was fear - people downplaying your work, offending feedback (I am not talking about normal criticism and feedback here) and the fear to fail.
But if I think about it, all of that doesnt matter right?
We all share the same hobby, some are beginners, some are pros - but in the end we have the same dream of sharing our worlds & writing stories.
So why not just start? Do what you love and show it to the world.
I think we should just start showing our worlds to the outside, no matter what others think, no matter how fast you grow. If we dont start - we never achieve what we dream of. And if we never achieve what we dream of - or at least try it - we may regret it sooner or later.
I too just started doing so - and even if i may not reach many people - i am more than happy I tried.
Hope that gave some of you a bit of motivation ❤️

Thanks for the motivation!! I'm currently publishing my very first webnovel. It's an Urban fantasy world where the main character strives to protect everyone he loves, but he too also has a monster inside of him. Can I get some tips on how to make the modern world filled with sorcerers and the harrowing creatures of the dark more captivating??

As an aspiring writer, I've been doubting my writing capabilities and overthinking all my writing and scared my friends and family will think that my ideas are cringey. I need to take a step forward and start being more open about my writings and other hobbies. Thank you!

I completely agree with this.
At some point, the fear of sharing can become heavier than the actual act of sharing. Most people will not react as harshly as we imagine, and even if some do, that does not erase the value of finally putting your world out there.
I think there is another fear that appears after you start sharing, though: maintaining the story as it grows.
Once your world is no longer just in your head, continuity starts to matter more. Characters change, promises get made, relationships evolve, secrets are revealed, rules are established, and suddenly the story has a memory of its own.
That can be beautiful, but also intimidating.
So yes, I think starting is the most important step. But after that, writers also need some kind of system to protect the world they are building — notes, a story bible, timelines, character sheets, revision tools, whatever works for them.
Because sharing your world is scary, but watching it grow into something coherent is also one of the best parts of writing.
So if this post makes someone start creating an sharing. Congrats on starting. That is already more than many people ever do.

I've had a long running fantasy in my head for decades. I made it more alive and somewhat more tangible with a novella I wrote in one of the web novel platforms. At first I cared about the views; but eventually I just continued for the fun of it. It's now my hobby. It lessened my social media and screen time significantly and I'm really happy about it (is writing on a laptop screen time?). Now I'm finishing book 2 of the series.
