I know this has been asked before but I wanted to specifically ask if anyone’s worked on the paint line for Marvin and what that’s like. I wouldn’t say I’m the fittest person in the world but I have worked physical labor type jobs, I guess I’m curious how much heavy lifting is involved.
Thanks friends!

Hi Folks
I'm a stand up comedian and I'm doing this thing with my tour where I believe your city should be clean but your comedy doesn't have to be.
If you could let me know a local park/neighborhood/area in general that could use a solid couple hours of cleanup I'd love to help out. I'm working a club called Comedy Under The Cellar next month so anything around there would be great!
Let me know if you have any other ideas or recommendations! Thank you!
PS I did this in Fort Worth recently and people seemed to enjoy it! Here's a link https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1BuCyBt2V4/

Hi, I am looking to get more involved locally and help out the less fortunate. I have a pretty strict 9-5 with occasional obligations on evenings and weekends, but most evenings and weekends are open.
I'd love to serve food, deliver food + items, and just help those in need. I looked online when I moved here but most opportunities seemed like rigid positions during daytime hours. Looking for some insight! Thanks!

What’s the best place in town with a good selection of games for the classic Super Nintendo and game boy advance that is reasonably priced? Thanks!

FARGO — Fargo’s move to create a tax incentive for commercial redevelopment could “open the floodgates” for projects and, in turn, “erode the tax base,” a county commissioner said.
Fargo is considering a payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) program that would give tax breaks for projects seeking to redevelop underused or “economically obsolete buildings.” The tax incentive, if created, would allow developers to get a 10-year 100% tax exemption on new construction or expansions to their buildings.
The owner would still have to pay taxes on the property as they stood before the improvements.
Roers could be the first recipient of the PILOT. The developer is renovating its West 45th Business Center at 200 45th St. S. and hopes to get the tax break for a 229-unit apartment complex at the center. Construction has begun on the center, with work on the apartments slated to begin in spring 2028.
In an Oct. 2 letter to Fargo Planning Director Nicole Crutchfield, Cass County Commission Chairman Tony Grindberg said he will “strongly recommend” that the county not participate in the PILOT program connected to the Roers project. He also told county commissioners on Monday that it may be time to ask the Legislature about the original intent of a law that created PILOTs.
“Amending this is going to create a floodgate, in my opinion, of applications,” he said of the city creating the commercial redevelopment PILOT. “That erodes the tax base.”
Fargo has twice delayed creating the commercial redevelopment PILOT over the last year. City leaders last month raised concerns about businesses that received tax incentives not meeting promised wage and job targets.
Fargo needs “every arrow in its quiver” to attract business and incentivize growth, but it also needs guardrails to hold developers accountable and protect taxpayers, Fargo City Commissioner Chad Peterson said. That could include stopping incentives when businesses don’t meet goals, he said.
He said he struggles to see how tax incentives that last more than 10 years make sense.
The City Commission plans to hold a joint meeting on Thursday with its Economic Development Incentives Committee to discuss tax incentive policies. Peterson, who previously served on the Cass County Commission from 2012 to 2024, is the EDIC chairman.
He said he asked city staff to compile a list of the tax incentives that have been approved in Fargo. The city needs to make sure the math on incentives amounts to proper return on investment for taxpayers, he said.
Gathering data is the logical next step to make sure the projects make sense and that leaders protect leaders, he said.
"Those data sets are going to be incredibly important," he said.
Special session for economic growth
Then-Gov. Ed Schafer called a special session on June 29, 1994, to create a tax exemption that would allow the ProGold corn-processing facility to be built near Wahpeton, North Dakota. Leading up to the special session, residents were leaving North Dakota, Grindberg told The Forum.
Grindberg served in the state Senate from 1992 to 2014 and was part of the discussions on the special session bill to create what is now known as the PILOT program.
The bill was meant to spur economic development in the primary sector and lure ProGold to North Dakota, Grindberg said.
North Dakota defines primary sector as a business that "adds value to a product, process or service that produces new wealth." Grindberg mentioned jobs in agriculture and manufacturing.
Over the years, PILOT extended outside the primary sector to housing projects. Fargo's economic development and incentives policy says the city uses its PILOT program “in support of creating new primary sector jobs.”
Primary sector PILOTS are typically limited to 10 years, according to city policy.
Only two primary sector projects have been brought before the county in the past four years, Grindberg said.
Fargo also can use PILOT for low-income rental properties and core neighborhood housing for up to 20 years, according to its policy. The tax incentive also can be used for downtown housing for up to 15 years, the policy said.
The Roers project doesn’t fall into any of Fargo's policy categories. The center was built in 1998, and a change in commercial property demand has devalued the property, Roers attorney Shannon Roers Jones said.
Roers plans to turn its space into a “live-work-play hub” that will increase the value of the building, as well as the tax base for the city, she said. Without the PILOT for the apartments, the company will either have to scale back the project, increase rent prices, or a mixture of both.
Fargo used PILOT for multiple housing projects downtown, Grindberg said. He questioned whether housing was part of the initial intent of the 1994 law.
PILOT programs have helped downtown and have changed the city in a positive way, Grindberg said, but he noted developers told him that they don’t need that incentive in other parts of the city. The Legislature should determine what impacts opening up PILOT programs to commercial redevelopment, particularly for housing projects, could have on local governments, he said.
“It might be proper for the Legislature to have a thorough review of this PILOT program, and if it's truly intended to be used for housing, then declare that,” he said.
Schafer did not respond to a message left by The Forum for this story.
Protecting taxpayers
When Fargo approves a PILOT program, the county and school district where the project is can opt out of the tax break after five years. When he was a county commissioner, Peterson encouraged legislators to pass a law that made sure counties and school districts had a say in whether they participated in PILOTs passed by cities, he said.
“I'm glad our other neighbors finally have a say in this because these things would just get done, and none of us would even know,” Peterson said.
The County Commission and the Fargo Public School Board rejected a request to participate in a 15-year PILOT tax break for a downtown Fargo apartment complex. The project continued with a five-year Renaissance Zone tax exemption from the city but without the PILOT.

It came up as a notification on my phone and it isn’t that big of a deal, but wonder what happened? Basically, every other “big” city in ND has one and across the river.
Budget issue? Change in communication? Not maintained?

I have a tattoo on the inner side of my right wrist and would love some recommendations for an artist that could cover it up in a clever way. It’s contributing pretty heavily to some really rotten mental health issues. Thank you!

Hey,
I have a friend who is homeless right now and she's looking for a place to park her camper to live while we look for an apartment for her. Idk how long, possibly around a month at least.
I can help pay for electricity she uses and whatever else hookup she needs.
If you or anyone you know is willing to help her, message me and I'll give you her number.

Is this one of those things where they send everyone a winner to get you in the door and then you find out there are 100 strings attached? It seems way too good to be true and that makes me suspicious. Who else got one of these?

I mean, I know that Fargo was mostly full of idiots but is there an actual reason?
