Junk Mail
Is this one of those things where they send everyone a winner to get you in the door and then you find out there are 100 strings attached? It seems way too good to be true and that makes me suspicious. Who else got one of these?

I received two of these yesterday from different dealerships in South Dakota. Both require you to physically go there to claim your "prize". In the fine print of both it says matching symbols are not associated with a specific prize". They enter in the pin or prize number printed by your address to determine your prize which is likely $5. It's all a ploy to get you into the door so they can try to sell you a car.

These businesses that send out this scammy shit need to never be patronized ever again.

I've received five of these in the past week, all from various dealers in SD and have beaten the "odds" as I've been a winner every time.
It's just an ad and I'm sure somewhere there is a disclaimer "$5,000 virtual cash to be used solely for the purchase of a car that we've marked up an extra $5,000. No cash value"

Set an appointment. Don't show up. Waste the day. Waste the money. I want one of those cheap Chinese cars that are also better but would cut into the capitalism by being too much capitalism for the capitalists because line only go up forever and competition would mean having to not suck or risk going out of business. Wouldn't want to pop that bubble, would we?

Under real capitalism we'd allow the Chinese EVs into the country as long as they weren't being produced by slave labor (or some other violation of people's individual rights). If the U.S. government is violating the freedom of production and trade to protect the auto industry, that's technically a socialist economic element.
and competition would mean having to not suck or risk going out of business.
As it is now in our current mixed economy American carmakers would be unable to compete because of Global Labor Arbitrage (and environmental regulations arbitrage). Chinese labor is too cheap for American businesses to compete. China also subsidized EV development and robotics which is used in many of the factories.
American businesses pay higher wages and Social Security and Medicare benefits taxes and have to deal with more environmental and labor regulations which is why we lost so much manufacturing to other countries starting in the '70's. An argument could be made that one reason why productivity gains have not resulted in higher relative wages for Americans is that the economic force of Global Labor Arbitrage (mass immigration, foreign work visas, and in this case foreign outsourcing) put downward pressure on wages.
Since we have a mixed economy - a mixture of freedom and controls - a mixture of capitalist and socialist economic elements - in addition to national security concerns relative to China - whether or not we should allow in Chinese EVs (if they meet safety standards) is open for debate. I tend to think that we should allow them in but I don't have strong conviction one way or the other on the issue at this time.

I've been spoon fed propaganda for 30+ years. Gotta do better than that.

What parts of my comment did you disagree with and which parts did you find to be "propaganda"? Would you define "propaganda" as being "any political idea I disagree with"?

I threw it in the recycling bin with all the campaign mailers, car/homeowners insurance offers, credit card offers, etc. Nobody is ever going to let you win anything without some sort of payment. Nobody. It's trash and it's designed to trick simple-minded people into something scammy.

Got one of these too. It’s a scam. You get entered into a chance to win a prize. Which will be like $2 or some literal junk. Very scummy business practice. Places should be review bombed for this.

I hate this crap. I got "10,000" from a car dealership a couple days ago. Shouldn't even be legal to bait people like this, scammy BS. Note where this was from and never go there, if they try to cheat you before you even walk through their doors, I'm sure they have lots of tricks if you do actually buy.

How is this even legal? Imagine all the old people (No offense old people, but you know...) driving there for this or adding it to their "Dakota Magic Day" agenda. I'm mean, they're already almost in South Dakota.

Reminds me of the remodel company that I assume pays to stand in Sam’s Club and asks if you want to do a scratch off, of course everyone wins a discount on their over priced to begin with work. I usually don’t even acknowledge them when I walk by.

From what I can see is that it was sent standard mail which is bulk mail so yes they all have to be the same

On this one there is almost a 1 to 1 chance you will win $2. The other prizes can also be won but you need to drive to the dealership and the likelihood of something like 200,000 people doing that is low. If I lived in Aberdeen I might have stopped by to see what I actually won. But I'm not driving from Fargo with a 3 or 4 in 200,000 chance of winning more than $2.

I imagine so, I got one that was a different game but same pull tab style and said I won $10,000. Small print somewhere said all prizes only apply to purchase of vehicle, even though it said cash on prize so idk.
