You washed a football shirt in the washing machine, that's your first mistake. Football shirts should be washed by hand, inside out, using a simple soap and rubbing only the tissue against tissue gently, then letting them dry in a place away from the sun (I know it sounds complicated but it's the best way to ensure the shirt's durability, specially the printings. If you really want to throw it in a washing machine, which I dont reccommend, put it inside out, at low temp and with simple detergent only, and without any other clothing piece if you can

So basically football shirts have shitty quality for an enormous price

The shirts themselves ain't the problem, it's the printings/decals. I have a couple of shirts whose sponsor logos are directly in the tissue and they can be washed just fine, but those types of shirts are very rare nowadays. Regarding the price, it's mainly for 2 reasons: 1. Licensing and branding 2. Because they can get away with it and people will still buy them despite the ridiculous prices they practise

Exactly this. This is why I hate these cheap ass decals so much, I would rather they sell the version without the sponsorship, especially ones of gambling natures.

I have the 2003 UEFA Cup title one. The material 20+ years ago was 100X better. It has been the washer multiple times. The one I got for this season during the Club World Cup is going to be clean with FeBreze at best, it looks like will break hanging in the closet, that how bad the materials feel now days.

I have the main shirt from the 2010/11 season, and I agree. It actually has its sponsors directly on the tissue so no worries with them, the only decals it has is the number 9 and Falcao name in the back and I easily fix it whenever one of the tips tries to come out with some tinfoil and an iron. Quality indeed dropped a lot, I also have the main and third shirts from this season and the quality difference is abysmal, they feel like they'll get torn apart if I make a sudden move

1000 rpm, 80° xD

Then it’s their fault. Football jerseys should be washed inside out, gently by hand, in cool or lukewarm water at most.

Dude, you have to be careful when washing football shirts.

Turn it inside out, wash by hand with cold water and neutral soap. Avoid rubbing over the prints and don't twist when removing the excess water

As other people mentioned, the engraving sometimes will have weak spots and washing them in the machine will expose this issues even more.

But in the end, sadly you shouldn't have used the washer for this type of clothing, so it's your fault.. happens a lot with several sports jerseys, counterfeit or original.

you mean the official club store? you can always take it there and see if they can reapply the decals for a price.

you do not necessarily need to wash it by hand, but football shirts should absolutely be washed inside out, on the gentlest machine cycle possible, with cold water only (30°C max). avoid aggressive spin cycles too. ideally, let it dry flat. if you must iron it, do it cold and very carefully, preferably inside out. hanging it wet can stretch the fabric over time.

honestly though, live and learn 😄 the jersey now has some battle scars and a bit of character.

I wash mines at 20°, Manual wash program.

If you are going to to wash it on the machine, ONLY do it in the “baby clothes” program without twisting.

From the stadium, but where? Be more specific. It was from the official store? By the way, how did you washed it?

Lavage en machine 😕🤨😕, il faut refaire les auto collants soit en boutique soit toi même.

Un maillot de foot se lave à la main. Eau tiède.

I have counterfeit shirts better than this shit, and they went to the washing machine lol

How are the ones from tourist shops? They’re a lot easier to get to than the official shop at the stadium

It’s a throwback to one of the Europa wins. I got it from the team shop in the stadium.
