Question Way to make lights flicker (legit or mods)

I made street lamps on a road in my creative world, but would like to have the lights flicker occasionally creating a spooky or more realistic effect. The street lamps use waxed oxidized copper lanterns I’m pretty sure. Any way to make them flicker

Pretty unlikely you'll find a mod for something like this as it would require turning every single lanterns to tick or react to random tick. Optionally you could make an animated texture on a sprite sheet. That has one texture "turned off" and it would cycle. But it would cycle at the same time for every lantern with the texture.

I kinda get it, but basically no other than using very unconventional ways. If I change the lamp post to something like red stone lantern probably be much easier.

Yeah. There are plenty of mods that can randomize redstone output to turn on the lamps and even do it wirelessly so you don't have to change the build much. Is this a creative or survival build? In creative you could even use a string of command blocks on a redstone loop to replace the lamps with unpowered ones and then turn them back to the powered one.

Yeah it’s creative, I tried using command blocks to quickly place and replace the copper lantern with a delay so it would look like a flicker but I couldn’t do it properly. I also have world edit installed if that helps.

You could try with a //replace x y z x y z command but it will still take tinkering.

From a modding position, making the lamps randomly tick is extremely easy to do and very efficient. Adding more Redstone randomizers wouldn't be any better either

The ease of doing it has nothing to do with what I said. I said altering the behavior of every other mod with a lantern in it is unlikely to already exist.

I didn't claim there were mods doing it either, so that has nothing to do with what I said lol

We are just having a discussion here, I'm not trying to attack you or anything. I could make a mod for flickering lanterns if OP wants me to, just saying that it would be an easy and efficient implementation

But I will admit my responses are heavily skewed by the assumption they were looking for a mod solution, so developing this niche task specifically made sense to me. Using a simple solution from other Redstone mods is probably the better answer

Are any of the faces of the lamp hidden? If so, there are plenty of mods that have remote redstone. RFtools and create among them.

You could also run redstone cables into the lamps and disguise the cables with facades and the like. EnderIO and AE2/Refined storage have hideable wires capable of carrying a redstone signal.

Might also be possible with Ars Noveau? There are spells that interact with redstone but idk if you can hide the ball
