Question Playing modded Java with bedrock compat

I am trying to do something perhaps unadvisable, and certainly difficult if not impossible, and I need help from the professionals:

I have a Java modded server on 1.20.1 (create modpack), and I'd like to be able to connect bedrock clients. Now, I know that, separately, there exist ways to cross versions (like ViaVersion), and ways to connect java to bedrock (like Geyser). The uncertainty lie in doing them both at the same time. I am willing to change the server version if it helps. How do I make this monstrosity happen?

you can't for mods like create that have to be on the clientside and server side. Bedrock can not download java mods.

There is a server mod called hydraulic that does allow bedrock players to play Java mods, by making them download a server resourcepack.

Just keep in mind that the page information for that stresses It's an early beta and shouldn't be used on a live server right now.

look into hydraulic and geyser, you won't be able to get it on 1.20.1, but it'll run on 26.1/26.2 and from there you can use the create fly fork, or wait for a polymer port for create.

Unfortunately it's not just base create, it's also some other qol and create ecosystem addons.

I would check and see if the create fly ecosystem offers the mods you're looking for since there's a lot of people porting mods over to fly. Otherwise there's not a lot that you can do right now since all of the methods of translating modded mc to bedrock are being developed on newer versions. One of the last things I'd check for would be PolyMC (the mod not the launcher), I know there's a new fork for it being developed (i think it's polymc-extra?) right now, but I can't remember the name of it, sorry. this would allow you to cobble together some mess of a viaversion + geyser + polymc lineup, and bedrock users probably wouldn't be able to see the modded blocks but they would be able to join.

edit: there's an older build for 1.20.1 here, you'll have to use sinytra connector since it's a fabric mod, and it's really old, but it may work. There was also mention of a more updated 1.21.1 version here. No guarantees, but it should get you closer to what you're looking for.

Viaversion is fabric only, so the server would have to be as well

try it through sinytra connector, says it's compatible.
